India on June 8 reported an increase of 1,881 in active coronavirus cases to take its count to 28,857. The country is fourty-sixth among the most affected countries by active cases. On June 8, it added 5,233 cases, taking its total caseload to 43,190,282. And, with 7 new fatalities, its Covid-19 death toll reached 524,715, or 1.21 per cent of total confirmed infections.

With 1,494,086 more Covid-19 vaccine doses being administered on June 7, India’s total count of vaccine shots so far reached 1,944,326,416. The count of recovered coronavirus cases across India, meanwhile, reached 42,636,710 — or 98.73 per cent of total caseload — with 3,345 new cured cases being reported on June 7.
