The count of active cases across India on June 5 increased by 1,636, compared with 1,239 on June 4

India on Sunday reported an increase of 1,636 in active coronavirus cases to take its count to 24,052. The country is fifty-first among the most affected countries by active cases. On June 5, it added 4,270 cases, taking its total caseload to 43,176,817. And, with 15 new fatalities, its Covid-19 death toll reached 524,692, or 1.22 per cent of total confirmed infections.

With 1,192,427 more Covid-19 vaccine doses being administered on June 4, India’s total count of vaccine shots so far reached 1,94,09,46,157. The count of recovered coronavirus cases across India, meanwhile, reached 42,628,073— or 98.73 per cent of total caseload — with 2,619 new cured cases being reported on June 5.
