Data story: India logs 18,313 new Covid cases, 57 deaths in 24 hours

India reported a decrease of 2,486 in active coronavirus cases to take its count to 145,026. The country is twenty-ninth among the most affected countries globally by active cases. On July 27, it added 18,313 cases to take its total caseload to 43,938,764. And, with 57 new fatalities, its Covid-19 death toll reached 526,167, or 1.20 per cent of total confirmed infections.
 
With 2,737,235 more Covid-19 vaccine doses being administered on July 26, India’s total count of vaccine shots so far reached 2,027,961,722. The count of recovered coronavirus cases across India, meanwhile, reached 43,267,571 — or 98.47 per cent of the total caseload — with 20,742 new cured cases being reported on July 27.
