India reported an increase of 2,374 in active coronavirus cases to take its count to 81,687. The country is twenty-fourth among the most affected countries globally by active cases. On June 22, it added 12,249 cases to take its total caseload to 43,331,645. And, with 13 new fatalities, its Covid-19 death toll reached 524,903, or 1.21 per cent of total confirmed infections.
With 1,228,291 more Covid-19 vaccine doses being administered on June 21, India’s total count of vaccine shots so far reached 1,964,599,906. The count of recovered coronavirus cases across India, meanwhile, reached 42,725,055— or 98.60 per cent of total caseload — with 9,862 new cured cases being reported on June 22.
