- With a daily increase of 16,738 in total cases, the most in a day since January 14, India’s tally of coronavirus cases has risen from 11,030,176 on Wednesday to 11,046,914 – an increase of 0.2%. Death toll has reached 156,705, with 138 fatalities in a day. Now the fourteenth-most-affected country by active cases, fourth by fatality, and second by total and recovered cases, India has added 96,713 cases in the past 7 days.
- India now accounts for 0.69% of all active cases globally (one in every 145 active cases), and 6.25% of all deaths (one in every 16 deaths).
- India has so far vaccinated 12,671,163 people. That is 114.71 per cent of its total caseload, and 0.9124 per cent of its population.
- Backwards from here, the last 1 million cases for India have come in 67 days.
- The count of active cases across India saw a net increase of 4,801 on Thursday, compared to a decline of 399 on Wednesday. States that have seen the biggest daily net increase in active cases are Maharashtra (5955), Punjab (303), Delhi (128), Madhya Pradesh (119), and Telangana (107).
- With 11,799 new daily recoveries, India’s recovery rate has reached 97.21%, while fatality rate remains unchanged at 1.42%.
- The Indian states and UTs with the worst case fatality rates at present are Punjab (3.22%), Maharashtra (2.45%), and Gujarat (2.20%). The rate in as many as 15 is higher than the national average.
- India’s new daily closed cases stand at 11,937 — 138 deaths and 11,799 recoveries. The share of deaths in total closed cases stands at 1.16%.
- India’s 5-day moving average of daily rate of addition to total cases stands at 0.1%.
- India’s doubling time for total cases stands at 457.1 days, and for deaths at 786.8 days.
- Overall, five states with the biggest 24-hour jump in total cases are Maharashtra (8807), Kerala (4106), Punjab (558), Tamil Nadu (463), Gujarat (380).
- Among states with more than 25,000 cases, the five with worst recovery rates at present are Kerala (94.52%), Maharashtra (94.70%), Punjab (94.78%), West Bengal (97.63%), and Madhya Pradesh (97.65%).
- India on Wednesday conducted 793,383 coronavirus tests to take the total count of tests conducted so far in the country to 213,829,658. The test positivity rate recorded was 2.1%.
- Five states with the highest test positivity rate (TPR) – percentage of tested people turning out to be positive for Covid-19 infection (by cumulative data for tests and cases) – are Maharashtra (13.31%), Goa (11.23%), Nagaland (9.4%), Kerala (9.32%), and Ladakh (8.91%).
- Five states with the highest TPR by daily numbers for tests and cases added – are Maharashtra (10.89%), Kerala (5.82%), Goa (3.13%), Punjab (2.73%), and Chandigarh (2.44%).
- Among states and UTs with more than 10 million population, five that have carried out the highest number of tests (per million population) are Delhi (612127), J&K (385586), Kerala (319101), Karnataka (281078), and Andhra Pradesh (264410).
- The five most affected states by total cases are Maharashtra (2121119), Kerala (1045009), Karnataka (949183), Andhra Pradesh (889503), and Tamil Nadu (849629).
- Maharashtra, the most affected state overall, has reported 8,807 new cases to take its tally to 2121119. The state has added 56,841 cases in the past 10 days.
- Kerala, now the second-most-affected state by total tally, has added 4106 cases to take its tally to 1045009.
- Karnataka, the third-most-affected state, has reported 334 cases to take its tally to 949183.
- Andhra Pradesh has added 94 cases to take its tally to 889503.
- Tamil Nadu has seen its tally going up by 463 to 849629.
- Delhi has added 200 cases to take its tally to 638373.
- Uttar Pradesh has added 128 cases to take its tally to 603103.
