Suman K Bery was appointed as the next Vice- chairperson of NITI Aayog on April 22, 2022. Bery, who will be taking office on May 1, will be replacing Rajiv Kumar, the current Vice-chairperson. Bery's appointment as the new Vice-chairperson came following the resignation of Rajiv Kumar. Suman Bery is an Indian economist, academician and writer. He started his career in 1972 in Washington, when he joined the World Bank through its young professional programme. Bery worked at the World Bank for 28 years, wherein he held different positions before taking over the charge as the lead economist.

No poverty, zero hunger, good health and well-being, quality education, gender equality, clean water and sanitation and affordable and clean energy are among the 17 SDGs.
He also sought a special grant of Rs 1,000 crore in the current financial year to strengthen air connectivity in the state.
"Assuming a successful conclusion to the trade negotiations, India should seek deeper integration into European supply chains, presenting itself as an alternative to China," he said.
For its latest iteration, the economics division of the Finance Ministry has tied up with think-tank Institute of Economic Growth (IEG).
