Inspired by PM's resolve, UP made significant efforts to foster sports: CM

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Thursday said inspired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi's resolve of encouraging athletes by announcing cash rewards and jobs for them and promoting sports in the country, the state has made significant efforts to foster a culture of sports. According to a press statement issued by the state government, Adityanath said, "Uttar Pradesh is the only state that has honoured all the athletes who won medals and made the country proud." Lakhimpur Kheri case: SC grants eight-week interim bail to Ashish Mishra

The Supreme Court on Wednesday granted eight-week interim bail to Union minister Ajay Kumar Mishra's son Ashish in the 2021 Lakhimpur Kheri violence that had left eight people dead. A bench of Justices Surya Kant and J K Maheshwari directed that Ashish shall not stay either in Uttar Pradesh or in Delhi during the interim bail period. On October 3, 2021, eight people were killed in Lakhimpur Kheri district's Tikunia where violence erupted when farmers were protesting against the then deputy chief minister Keshav Prasad Maurya's visit to the area. According to the Uttar Pradesh Police FIR, four farmers were mowed down by an SUV in which Ashish was seated. Following the incident, the driver of the SUV and two BJP workers were allegedly lynched by angry farmers. A journalist also died in the violence. The Lucknow bench of the Allahabad High Court had on July 26 last year rejected the Ashish Mishra's bail plea. He had challenged the high court's order in the apex court.

Anand Mahindra discusses investment proposals for UP with CM Adityanath

Supreme Court dismisses plea against UP CM Yogi Adityanath in 2018 case

The Supreme Court on Monday dismissed a plea seeking direction for registering of a case against Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath for an alleged objectionable speech during an election campaign in Rajasthan's Alwar in 2018. A bench of Justices B R Gavai and Vikram Nath said it was not inclined to interfere in the matter. "Such litigations are only for page 1 (of newspapers). Dismissed," the bench said. The petitioner had moved the top court against an order of the Allahabad High Court which had dismissed his plea and imposed a cost of Rs 5,000 on him. The petition was filed by Naval Kishor Sharma of Mau district. According to the petitioner, Adityanath had on November 23, 2018, in an election speech in Alwar hurt his religious sentiments. Before moving to the apex court, the petitioner had filed a complaint against the speech before the district court of Mau, which was rejected. Noida gets investment intents worth Rs 5.86 trn ahead of investor summit

Gautam Buddh Nagar, which includes industrial cities of Noida and Greater Noida, has received investment proposals worth Rs 5.86 lakh crore since the announcement of Uttar Pradesh Global Investors Summit in November 2022, according to district officials. The UP Global Investors Summit is scheduled from February 10 in Lucknow and the state government, led by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, has set a target of Rs 17 lakh crore investments through the ambitious drive. Gujarat firms sign 22 MoUs entailing investments worth Rs 40,000 cr in UP

A total of 22 corporate entities from Gujarat have promised to invest Rs 40,000 crore in Uttar Pradesh, which would create 50,000 direct as well as indirect employment opportunities, a senior official from the country's most populous state said on Friday. These 22 memorandums of understanding (MoUs) amounting to Rs 40,000 crore were signed during the B2G meetings and roadshows organised by the Yogi Adityanath's government here on Friday, Navneet Sehgal, Additional Chief Secretary in UP's Sports and Youth Welfare department, said here on Friday. The roadshows and meets were organised here in the run up to UP Global Investors Summit to be held in Lucknow between February 10 and 12. Noida investor summit attracts investment proposals worth Rs 11,500 crore

Uttar Pradesh's Gautam Buddh Nagar on Friday received investment proposals of about Rs 11,500 crore from around 50 investors at the district-level investors' summit, officials said here. Around 250 investors participated in the summit held at the Indira Kala Kendra in Sector 6 here in presence of UP MSME minister Rakesh Sachan, Jewar MLA Dhirendra Singh, District Magistrate Suhas L Yathiraj, Police Commissioner Laxmi Singh, among others.
