Reduce civil services recruitment cycle, parlimentary panel tells UPSC

Asserting that the nearly 15 months long recruitment process wastes candidates' prime years besides taking a heavy toll on their physical and mental health, a Parliamentary Committee has asked the UPSC to reduce the civil services examination's selection cycle. Not received any proposals from Delhi govt to fill prosecutors' posts: UPSC

The UPSC told the Delhi High Court on Tuesday it has not received any fresh proposal from the city government for filling up posts of prosecutors in courts here and a statement made by the state about it was incorrect and inappropriate. The UPSC's statement was made in an affidavit in response to the Delhi government's submission before the court on January 17 that a fresh requisition has been sent to the Union Public Service Commission for filling up 108 vacant posts of public prosecutors. The high court is hearing a batch of petitions, including a suo motu case (a matter initiated on its own), concerning issues related to recruitment, appointment and working of public prosecutors in the city. Over 377k candidates selected for govt jobs by UPSC, SSC in last 5 yrs

More than 3.77 lakh candidates were selected for central government jobs by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC), Staff Selection Commission (SSC) and Railway Recruitment Board (RRBs) in the last five years, Union minister Jitendra Singh said on Wednesday. The government has already issued instructions to all ministries/departments for timely filling up of vacant posts, he said in a written reply to the Lok Sabha. Former Health Secretary Preeti Sudan on Tuesday took oath as a member of the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC), according to a Personnel Ministry statement. The Union Public Service Commission has launched an android mobile application that will allow people to access examination and recruitment-related information, officials said on Friday. The mobile application is available on Google Play Store. UPSC starts 'one-time registration' facility for govt job aspirants

The UPSC has started a one time registration (OTR) facility for government job aspirants who will now not be required to fill in their basic details every time they apply for different recruitment examinations. The aspirants, who wish to apply for any future examination of the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC), are required to register themselves in the OTR platform by filling up their basic personal information indicated therein. "A large number of aspirants apply for a host of examinations conducted by the UPSC throughout the year to select officers for different central government departments/organisations. Delhi Metro services to begin early on Sunday to facilitate UPSC examinees

Delhi Metro services will begin two hours earlier than its scheduled time on June 5 to facilitate candidates appearing for civil services examination, officials said on Friday. "Metro train services on Phase-III sections which usually begin at 8 AM on Sundays will begin at 6 AM this Sunday i.e, June 5, 2022. This arrangement is being made to facilitate the candidates appearing for Civil Services (Prelim) Examination held by UPSC this Sunday," the DMRC said in a statement. These sections include, Dilshad Garden-Shaheed Sthal (New Bus Adda); Noida City Centre-Noida Electronic City; Mundka-Brigadier Hoshiar Singh and Janakpuri West-Botanical Garden. Metro services on rest of the sections will remain running as per normal schedule, from 6 AM onwards, the DMRC said.
