Pawar made remarks while addressing a campaign event for the Kasba Assembly bye-election in Pune
The Shiv Sena (UBT) on Friday mocked the 'Cow Hug Day' initiative for Valentine's Day on February 14 and took a swipe at Narendra Modi claiming billionaire industrialist Gautam Adani was a "holy cow" for the prime minister. The Animal Welfare Board of India has issued an advisory urging people to celebrate Valentine's Day as 'Cow Hug Day' to spread "positive energy" and encourage "collective happiness", the move getting the backing of some Bharatiya Janata Party leaders while also generating several memes ridiculing it. The value of shares of Adani Group firms have taken a beating over the last few weeks after US-based Hindenburg Research accused it of stock manipulation and fraud. These have been denied by the Adani group. In an editorial in party mouthpiece 'Saamana', the Uddhav faction of the Shiv Sena said despite protests in Parliament against Adani, the PM did utter a single word on the "scam". "People want a clarification from the prime minister on the Adani scam, but the Mo
The Election Commission (EC) should wait for its decision on the original Shiv Sena party symbol until the Supreme Court gives its order on the disqualification of rebel MLAs
Uddhav Thackeray, who heads a faction of the Shiv Sena, on Wednesday said that the decision by the Supreme Court on the disqualification of the party's rebel MLAs should come first and then by the Election Commission on who the original party belongs to. Addressing a press conference, Thackeray also asked why the EC froze the Shiv Sena name and its bow and arrow' symbol when it has not been used by the rival Eknath Shinde faction yet. The decision on disqualification should come first and then by the Election Commission (which faction Shiv Sena belongs to), Uddhav said, adding that the apex court will start hearing the matter related to the disqualification of rebel MLAs on a daily basis from February 14. The Sena was split last June after a rebellion led by Shinde, prompting his faction and the one headed by Uddhav Thackeray to try to stake claim over the party's name and its symbol.
Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde on Tuesday took swipes at Shiv Sena (UBT) leaders Uddhav Thackeray and Aaditya Thackeray for 'ignoring' the demands of fisherfolk affected by the Mumbai coastal road project when they were in power. "Power had gone to head," Shinde said after attending a gathering of fisherfolk community in Aaditya's Assembly constituency, Worli, in south Mumbai. One and a half years back, local fisherfolk had staged protests demanding that the span between two pillars of the coastal road be increased to allow their boats to pass, the CM said. Without naming then environment minster Aaditya or his father and then chief minister Uddhav Thackeray, Shinde said whenever elections are round the corner, rumours are spread that Mumbai will made a Union Territory. But as the chief minister of the state, we will not let anyone take away an inch of land of Mumbai and Maharashtra, Shinde said. During the previous (Uddhav Thackeray-led) regime, demands of the fisherfol
"...but Uddhav said he had full confidence in his MLAs and that they wouldn't take such an extreme step," Pawar said
Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde on Thursday said that in a democratic set-up, everyone has the right to carry out the propaganda of one's political party and work towards the growth of the organisation. He was responding to a query on Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray's visit to Thane city scheduled later during the day. It is Thackeray's first visit to the city after Shiv Sena's split last year. Thane is the home turf of Shinde, who represents the Kopri-Pachpakhadi Assembly constituency in the district. A spokesman of the Shiv Sena (UBT) had earlier told reporters that on Thursday evening, Thackeray will inaugurate a mega medical camp organised by the party at the Shivaji Maidan in Thane on the eve of the birth anniversary of Shiv Sena leader late Anand Dighe, the mentor of CM Shinde. He will then pay floral tributes to Dighe at his bust at Tembi Naka near the Anand Ashram. Thackeray will then participate in the function organised by the Jain community in the city. W
Shiv Sena (UBT) president and former CM Uddhav Thackeray will visit Thane, the political turf of Maharashtra Chief Minister and his rival Eknath Shinde, on January 26, his first trip to the city after losing power in June last year. An official spokesman of the Opposition party told the media on Wednesday that Thackeray will inaugurate a medical camp organised by the party at the Shivaji Maidan on the eve of the birthday of late Shiv Sena stalwart Anand Dighe. The former CM will also garland a bust of Dighe in the Tembi Naka area, he said.

Nationalist Congress Party chief Sharad Pawar on Sunday pitched for contesting the 2024 Maharashtra Assembly and the Lok Sabha polls together with the Uddhav Thackeray faction of the Shiv Sena and Congress. Talking to reporters, he claimed that despite a split in the Shiv Sena, majority of the hardcore Shiv Sainiks who work on the ground stand behind Uddhav Thackeray. Pawar said MLAs and MPs may have aligned with the Eknath Shinde faction of the Shiv Sena after the split, but when polls take place, they will also know what the views of people are. After the 2019 Maharashtra Assembly elections, Thackeray had snapped ties with long-term ally Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and tied-up with the NCP and Congress to form the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) government in the state. The Thackeray government collapsed in June last year after a revolt led by Shinde against the Sena leadership. To a query on the issue of alliance, Pawar said, The understanding is that the Congress, NCP and Uddhav ...

Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde on Wednesday assured the Legislative Council that he would direct the Police Department not to arrest Uddhav Thackeray-led party MLA Nitin Deshmukh
The rival Shiv Sena factions led by Uddhav Thackeray and Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde faced off at the party's office in the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) headquarters in south Mumbai on Wednesday evening. Tensions prevailed for an hour on the premises till police intervened. The confrontation took place after North Central Mumbai MP Rahul Shewale, former standing committee chairman Yashwant Jadhav and former corporator Sheetal Mhatre, all belonging to the Shinde-led Balasahebanchi Shiv Sena, entered the party office around 5 pm. Shiv Sena (Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray) faction's former corporators including Ashish Chemburkar and Sachin Padwal objected to their presence, leading to heated exchanges, sources said. Tension prevailed for nearly an hour with workers from both sides shouting slogans before the police stepped in and removed everyone from the office. Both factions claimed that there was no attempt by any side to stake claim to the party office, ...
Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Uddhav Thackeray on Tuesday wondered whether the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is behind the allegations being levelled against ministers belonging to the Shiv Sena faction led by Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde. The BJP shares power with the Shinde faction in the state. Addressing party workers, Thackeray also took a dig at pictures of Shiv Sena founder Bal Thackeray being used on posters by CM Shinde and MLAs of his camp, saying they were clicked by him (Uddhav). They don't even have the brains to use pictures and they are governing the state, Thackeray said in a jibe directed at Shinde. Such bubbles (the rebel MLAs of Shiv Sena) don't stay for long, they just need a pin to burst, he said, referring to Shinde and MLAs loyal to him. Thackeray, an MLC, alleged some ministers indulged in scams. Every day there are scams. There has to be some morality. I sacked a minister. So have all the scamsters switched sides to hide their scams? the former chief
Maharashtra BJP State President Chandrashekar Bawankule said that Uddhav Thackeray joined hands with the Congress and Nationalist Congress Party due to his lust for power
Former Maharashtra chief minister and MLC Uddhav Thackeray will attend the winter session of the state legislature beginning here on Monday, opposition leader Ajit Pawar said. Thackeray, who heads the Shiv Sena (Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray) faction, had not attended the monsoon session of the state legislature held in Mumbai. Uddhav Thackeray will be present for the winter session (of the Maharashtra legislature), Pawar said while responding to a query from reporters. Interestingly, after announcing his decision to quit as the chief minister in June this year, Thackeray said he would also resign as a member of the Upper House of the state legislature. The Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) government led by Thackeray collapsed following a rebellion led by Shiv Sena leader Eknath Shinde and several MLAs against the party leadership. Subsequently, Shinde took oath as the chief minister and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Devendra Fadnavis as his deputy.
Former Maharashtra CM Uddhav Thackeray approached the Delhi High Court against its single-judge bench order rejecting his plea against EC's decision to freeze Shiv Sena's name and symbol
Shiv Sena (UBT) president Uddhav Thackeray on Thursday targeted the BJP saying that just the way big-ticket projects were shifted from Maharashtra to Gujarat ahead of the Assembly polls there, villages from the state could be merged into Karnataka, where elections are due next year. The shifting of the projects to Gujarat from Maharashtra earlier this year played a major role in the Bharatiya Janata Party's resounding victory in the neighbouring state, he said. Thackeray made the remarks during a press conference held following a meeting of the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) leaders here. The MVA comprises the Shiv Sena (Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray), the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) and the Congress. "Just the way projects in Maharashtra were taken away to poll-bound Gujarat, villages from Maharashtra may also be given to Karnataka where elections are due," he said. "Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai staking claim over the areas of Maharashtra has to be taken seriously. The BJP
