CRISIL upgrades rating on Tata Power NCDs, long-term bank facilities

Tata Power on Thursday said Crisil has upgraded its rating on the company's non-convertible debentures and long-term bank facilities. "Crisil has upgraded its rating of The Tata Power Company Ltd to 'Crisil AA' from 'Crisil AA-' on the non-convertible debentures and long-term bank facilities, Tata Power said in a regulatory filing. The outlook on the rating has been revised to 'stable' from 'positive'. The rating on Tata Power's commercial paper programme has been reaffirmed at Crisil A1+, it said. Tata Power said the rating upgrade has been driven by the de-leveraging initiatives such as sale of non-core assets (South African wind asset and shipping business) and the preferential allotment of equity undertaken by the company. Blame game begins between MSETCL, Tata Power over Mumbai power outage

A blame game has begun between Tata Power and state-run transmission utility Mahatransco over the massive power outage in the financial capital earlier this week. Mahatransco (Maharashtra State Electricity Transmission Company Limited - MSETCL) Chairman and Managing Director Dinesh Waghmare said Tata Power's plants took time to start generating electricity following the grid collapse on Monday morning, resulting in the specially created 'islanding' system not working. Hydel power stations can start generating power in 10 minutes, but Tata Power's took over five hours, while its thermal power stations came on board only past midnight, resulting in longer time required for restoration of power to residents, Waghmare told a TV news channel on Thursday. Tata Power signs PPA with Apollo Gleneagles for solar carport in Kolkata

Tata Power on Tuesday said it has signed a power purchase agreement with Apollo Gleneagles Hospitals, Kolkata to commission a solar carport in the city. This will be the biggest solar carport project in the country's health sector, spreading over 40,000 sq feet, officials said. With 335Kwp capacity, the project is expected to generate approximately 4.26 lakh units annually for the hospital, which is equivalent to about 4-5 per cent of the health facility's power consumption, they said. "The carport project is with our motto of doing our bit for the environment by reducing our carbon footprint estimated at 80,000 grams per annum," Apollo Gleneagles Hospitals Group CEO (eastern region) Rana Dasgupta said. The solar carport will have a capacity of keeping 125 -150 vehicles, he said.
