Cairn Oil and Gas to convert Mangala pipeline to solar power by 2025

Cairn Oil & Gas, a unit of mining giant Vedanta Ltd, will convert a pipeline that ships crude oil from its prolific Rajasthan oilfields to Gujarat to solar power by 2025. To commemorate World Environment Day on June 5, Cairn Oil & Gas will convert the Mangala pipeline to solar. It will install solar rooftop PVs in all the 36 Above Ground Installations (AGIs) along the pipeline by 2025, the firm said in a statement. The Mangala pipeline is the world's longest continuously heated and insulated pipeline that runs from oilfields of Rajasthan to refineries in Gujarat -- traversing 705 km. Discovered in 2004, Cairn's Mangala oilfield in Barmer district of Rajasthan was the largest global discovery of the year and India's largest onshore discovery in 25 years. ReNew Power inks 5 PPAs to supply around 1500 MW solar energy

ReNew Power on Thursday said it has signed five power purchase agreements (PPAs) for the supply of around 1,500 MW electricity generated from solar plants. The company has signed PPAs with Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) and Punjab State Power Corporation Ltd (PSPCL), as well as multiple long-term purchase agreements with corporate buyers together totalling around 2 GW, a company statement said. This has seen the company's gross total portfolio jumping to 12.1 GW from 10.2 GW at the beginning of this calendar year. The new utility solar projects will be located in the western state of Rajasthan and have flat tariffs over 25 years. Four solar PPAs have been signed with SECI and one with PSPCL. Two PPAs of 600 MW and 375 MW are under the SECI Rajasthan IV scheme, where ReNew will supply electricity at Rs 2.18/kWh. North Central Railway generates 94 lakh units of energy using solar power

The productivity of solar plants in North Central Railway (NCR) is registering an upward trajectory by generating 94 lakh units of energy.According to the information given by North Central Railway, comparing to generated 81 lakh units of energy using solar power during April-December 2020-21, this year 94 lakhs units of energy have been generated using solar power in the same period, an improvement of 16 per cent over last year.It is a big leap towards a larger goal of environmental protection as solar energy is a greener source of energy, and also led to substantial savings in revenue too.The official statement read that NCR has achieved a net revenue saving of 3.82 crores using solar power during April-December 2021.As per the information, NCR has a total installed capacity of 11.03 MWp.
