Severe cold and fog threw daily life out of gear in many regions of Rajasthan with Fatehpur recording the lowest minimum temperature at minus 1 degree Celsius on Monday night. According to the Met department, the minimum temperature was minus 0.9 degree in Churu on Monday night, 2.4 degrees in Sangaria, 2.6 degrees in Pilani, 3.0 degrees in Sikar, 3.7 degrees in Ganganagar, 4.5 degrees in Nagaur, 4.9 degrees in Chittorgarh. Bikaner recorded a minimum temperature of 6.9 degrees Celsius. The Regional Meteorological Centre here said there was dense fog in some parts of eastern and northern Rajasthan in the morning. In Jaipur, the maximum and minimum temperatures were recorded at 20.8 and 5.3 degrees Celsius, respectively. An 'Orange Alert' for an extreme cold wave in several districts, including Churu, Jhunjhunu and Sikar, has also been issued by the weather office.

The Rajasthan government has increased the honorarium of contract workers in the state by 5 per cent under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee (MGNREGA) scheme. According to an official statement, Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot has approved a proposal to increase the honorarium of contract workers working in the state by 5 percent under the MGNREGA scheme. This increase will be effective from November 1, 2022. This will put an additional financial burden of Rs 4.10 crore on the state government. According to this, Gehlot's decision will increase the income of contract workers working on various posts in the state under the scheme and their standard of living will be better. In the budget of the year 2022-23, Gehlot had announced to increase the honorarium of the employees working in various departments of the state.

The minimum temperature dropped by two to four degrees Celsius in the last 24 hours in parts of Rajasthan, a MeT department spokesperson said. The lowest minimum temperature in the state was recorded at Phalodi at 4.4 degree Celsius on Friday night. According to the MeT department, dense fog was witnessed in some parts of Bikaner, Jaipur and Bharatpur divisions on Saturday and the minimum temperature has dropped by two to four degrees Celsius at most places. The minimum temperature is likely to drop by two to three degree Celsius in the next 48 hours and a cold wave is likely to be witnessed in the state in the coming days, they said. There is a possibility of dense fog at some places in the western and northern parts of the state for the next two days, they said. Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot has approved Rs 31.50 crore to set up state-of-the-art gyms and fitness centres and open gyms. Gyms and fitness centres with modern facilities will be opened at Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur, Barkatullah Khan Cricket Stadium in Jodhpur and all divisional headquarters, according to the proposal. Open gyms will be established at all district headquarters. In his budget for the 2022-23 financial year, the chief minister had announced the opening of state-of-the-art gyms and fitness centres in all divisions and open gyms at district headquarters, a release said.

In an embarrassment for Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot, state minister Rajendra Singh Gudha on Wednesday appeared to put the Congress dispensation in the dock over the recent paper leak cases, saying such incidents are not possible without the protection of the government.
