Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday asked the governments of Rajasthan, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra to hold detailed discussions and prepare a roadmap to develop the Mangarh Dham. The dham, a memorial for around 1,500 tribals massacred by the British army in 1913, is located in Rajasthan's Banswara district on the Gujarat and the desert state's border, a region with a large tribal population. The four states together under the leadership of the Centre can develop the memorial more so that tribal leader Govind Guru's place, Mangarh Dham, can create an identity at the global level, Modi said addressing a gathering. Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday paid tributes to the tribals who were massacred by the British army in 1913 in Mangarh in Rajasthan. Modi during his visit to the Mangarh Dham in Banswara district was accompanied by Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot and other leaders. The dham, a memorial for around 1,500 tribals massacred by the British army in 1913, is located in the district on the Gujarat-Rajasthan border, a region with a large tribal population. During his visit, the prime minister will also address a gathering of Bhil adivasis and members of other tribes of the region. The gathering of tribals and forest dwellers in 1913 in Mangarh against the British Raj was being led by social reformer Govind Guru.

Pakistani civilian attempting to cross border in Rajasthan shot dead by BSF

A Pakistani civilian allegedly trying to enter Indian territory was killed by Border Security Force personnel in Anupgarh sector of Sriganganagar district here, police said. On Friday night, Border Security Force personnel patrolling the area saw a Pakistani civilian trying to enter the Indian side. When he did not stop despite being alerted by the jawans, they opened fire, Sriganganagar Superintendent of Police Anand Sharma said. A case has been registered at Anupgarh police station and the body kept in a mortuary. IAF, French air force participate in bilateral exercise called Garuda VII

NHRC issues notice to Raj govt over 'auctioning of girls' to recover debt

The NHRC on Thursday issued a notice to Rajasthan government over reports that girls are being auctioned on stamp paper in half a dozen districts of the state and the refusal thereof is resulting in the "rape of their mothers to settle financial disputes on the diktats of caste panchayats". The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has taken suo motu cognizance of a media report, it said in a statement. The chief secretary of Rajasthan and the state's director general of police (DGP) have been asked to respond to the commission within four weeks. Citing a media report, the NHRC said that whenever there is a dispute between the two parties particularly involving financial transactions and loans, girls aged between eight years and 18 years are auctioned to recover money. The Rajasthan government sanctioned Rs 36.56 crore to set up digital libraries in 344 residential schools across the state, an official statement said. Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot approved the amount in compliance with the announcement made during the discussion of the Finance and Appropriation Bill 2022-23. Gehlot had announced the financial provision for digital libraries and other necessary facilities for classes 9 to 12 in residential educational institutes and selected schools under various departments in view of the importance of digital learning in today's scenario, the statement said. Jakson Green to invest Rs 22,400 cr in green hydrogen project in Rajasthan

Jakson Green has inked a pact to invest Rs 22,400 crore to set up a green hydrogen and green ammonia project, in phases, in Rajasthan. The company has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the government of Rajasthan to this effect, Jakson Green said in a statement. Jakson Green will set up a 3,65,000 tons per annum Green Hydrogen & Green Ammonia plant along with an integrated hybrid renewable power complex in a phase wise manner, it stated.
