2nd admission list for entry-level in Delhi's pvt schools likely on Monday

A few private schools in Delhi are expected to publish the second list of shortlisted students for admission to entry-level classes Monday with many others having already closed the process with their first list itself. The first list was issued on January 20. President of Delhi State Public School's Management Association R C Jain said several schools do not issue a waiting list or a second list of students as the seats fill up after the first draw of lots itself. The draw of lots is conducted under videography and its footage are retained by the school. The slips are shown to the parents before being put in the box used for the draw of lots. A child needs to be at least four years old to fill out the form for nursery admission. The age limit is five years for admission in kindergarten and at least six years for Class 1 as on March 31, 2023. Private schools in Delhi won't deny admission to children under EWS section

Private schools in the national capital will no longer be able to deny admission to children under the Economically Weaker Section category as per their will after a Delhi High Court order. The High Court on Friday ruled that private schools will no longer be able to deny admissions to children under the EWS category selected through the draw of lots by the Directorate of Education, Delhi government officials said. This order by the High Court will provide relief to thousands of poor families, as private schools will not be able to deny admission to their children, the officials said. Over the last few years, the Directorate of Education received several complaints about private schools refusing to give admission to the children allotted to them, they said. Private schools were arguing that they are not giving admission to EWS category children due to non-fulfillment of admissions in general seats, they added. In this case, it was observed that many private schools were giving ...

BJP wants all Delhi govt schools to shut down for private players: Sisodia

Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia on Saturday claimed the BJP has started "weaving a new fabricated story" of corruption in the construction of Delhi government schools to target him after the CBI could not find anything against him in the excise policy case. Addressing a press conference, he also claimed the BJP was bringing up such a fake story of corruption under a conspiracy to close down all government schools and pave the way for opening of private schools in the national capital. Sisodia called the BJP a "party of illiterates" and alleged at least 72,000 government schools in the states ruled by the saffron party have been closed in the past seven years to make way for the opening of private schools. Sisodia's claims came a day after Delhi Lieutenant Governor V K Saxena sought a report from the chief secretary over a delay of more than two-and-half years in acting on a Central Vigilance Commission (CVC) report on an inquiry into the construction of additional ...
