Shah to arrive in Patna today for two-day visit to address rallies

Union Home Minister Amit Shah is scheduled to arrive in Patna on Saturday evening for a two-day visit to Bihar, where he will address rallies in two districts on Sunday. He is expected to arrive at Jay Prakash Narayan Airport in Patna around 6.30 pm and senior BJP leaders and Union ministers from Bihar will receive him, state party president Samrat Choudhary said. "From the airport, he will go to a hotel, where he is expected to chair meetings with party leaders and administrative officials. On Sunday, he will address public meetings at Sasaram in Rohtas district and Hisua in Nawada to mark the birth anniversary of Emperor Ashoka," Choudhary told PTI. This will be Shah's fourth visit to the state since the ruling JD(U) snapped ties with the BJP in August last year. A multi-tier security arrangement has been put in place for the Union home minister's visit and drones have also been deployed for aerial surveillance, an official said. Shah will leave for New Delhi on Sunday evening.

G20 meeting in Patna slated in early March postponed to June: Official

A G20 meeting in Patna which was earlier slated to take place early March has now been planned to be held in June, according to a senior official. India assumed the presidency of the influential bloc on December 1. Over 200 meetings are planned to be hosted at 55 locations across the country. "A meeting of G20 was earlier scheduled to be held in the first week of March. But, the date has now been changed, and it is planned to be held sometime in June," a senior official of the Bihar government told PTI. The G20 meeting in Patna is to be held on the labour track, and several delegates are expected to take part in it. Meanwhile, various state government departments and district administration are gearing up for the key event in the Bihar capital, sources said. The venue for the meeting in Patna has not been decided yet, they said. Union Home Minister Amit Shah is scheduled to visit Patna to attend a farmers' conclave organised by the Bihar BJP on February 22, the birth anniversary of Swami Sahajanand Saraswati, who was an ascetic and a peasant leader. Steps have been taken for identifying unauthorised constructions on the ecologically fragile floodplain of the Ganga in Patna by using geo-mapping technology, the Union government has told the Supreme Court.
