Ola Electric sales reach 20,000 units in October in strong festive season

Ola Electric on Tuesday reported sales of 20,000 units in October 2022. The company, which sells electric scooters S1 Pro and S1, said it registered a strong performance during the festive season. Sales recorded a four-fold growth over daily run rate during Navratras, and ten times on Vijayadashami, the company said in a statement. It has been producing 1,000 units a day on an average . The company, after opening bookings at Rs 499 in July last year for its electric scooters S1 Pro and and S1, started online purchase process in September 2021. It initially planned to start deliveries in October but later pushed the date to November and then again to the second half of December last year.

Ola Electric sets up experience centre in Chennai, eyes 200 by March 2023

Electric two-wheeler maker Ola Electric has set up its first experience centre in Chennai as part of a plan to set up 200 such facilities across the country by March 2023, the company said on Tuesday. People interested in electric vehicles would be encouraged at the experience centre and they can also avail themselves of test-rides of the company's S1 and S1 Pro electric scooters. "Ola experience centres allow us to better understand how best we can take our products to our customers and enable their transition to EV," company CMO Anshul Khandelwal said in a company statement here. In the wake of festive season, the company said it offers discounts up to Rs 10,000 towards purchase of Ola S1 Pro vehicle. Positioned as the most advanced scooters, the Ola S1 and S1 Pro come with most popular MoveOS features like music playback, navigation, companion application and reverse mode, among others, the statement added.

Ola Electric to foray into international markets starting with Nepal

Ola Electric on Thursday said it plans to foray into the international markets starting with Nepal. The company said it has signed a memorandum of understanding with CG Motors in Nepal partnering them as local distributors for its Ola S1 scooters (S1 & S1 Pro). The scooters will be available in Nepal starting next quarter, the Bengaluru-based electric two-wheeler maker said in a statement. In the second phase, the company also aims to enter Latin America, ASEAN and European Union, increasing the company's presence in up to five international markets. "Our international expansion not only means that we will as a company be able to serve customers in these similar regions, but it is also testament to the fact that India will lead the EV revolution for the world," Ola Founder and CEO Bhavish Aggarwal noted. To truly take the electric vehicle revolution to the next level, India will have to be the epicenter of change, he added. The company recently unveiled an electric four-wheeler .

Ola Electric plans to hire 3K to focus on non-software engineering domains

Ola Electric is cutting 200 jobs, mostly in software development roles, as part of a restructuring exercise while it plans to hire around 3,000 to focus on non-software engineering domains. The company, which sells electric scooters, said it has been increasing its focus on non-software engineering domains "with a clear focus on building engineering and R&D capabilities across - vehicle, cell, battery, manufacturing and automation, autonomous engineering streams and others". With plans to launch its first electric car in 2024, Ola Electric said it is focusing on being a vertically integrated mobility company.
