The New Delhi Municipal Council has prepared a draft policy to regularise scores of unauthorised cellular towers in Lutyens' Delhi, officials said on Saturday. There are around 240 unauthorised cellular towers. Out of these, 140 are located on government buildings and the rest on private buildings, an NDMC official said. The draft policy aims to modify the rules for the installation of communication towers by cellular and basic telecom operators on rooftops and ground bases within the premises and in the area under the jurisdiction of the New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC). There are four main aspects of the policy -- regularisation of unauthorised towers, increase in one-time tower installation fee, renter fee for towers situated on NDMC buildings (no change), and process to install new towers. In a meeting of the council, all its members also passed a special vote of thanks for the acceptance of regularisation of 4,500 Regular Muster Roll (RMR) employees and their gazette declaration. It is estimated that more than Rs 1,000 crore will be spent by various Delhi government agencies on the preparations for the G20 summit and related events to be held in the city in the coming months, officials said on Monday. A dozen major roads in Lutyens' Delhi will be spruced up with resurfacing under preparations by the New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) for the upcoming G20 Summit in the city, council member Kuljeet Chahal said on Friday. He said the NDMC, in its meeting, has approved an amount of Rs 12.35 crore for resurfacing 12 roads in the New Delhi area. The roads are Gurudwara Rakab Ganj Road, Jantar Mantar Road, R K Ashram Marg, Raisina Road, Red Cross Road, Sansad Marg, Udyan Marg, Mahadev Road, Bangla Sahib Road, Bhai Veer Singh Marg, Mother Teresa Crescent Marg and old RK Ashram Marg, he added. State-owned mining giant NMDC has left the prices of lump ore and fines unchanged for the third time in a row. In a regulatory filing on Monday, NMDC said it has fixed the prices of lump ore at Rs 4,100 per tonne and that of fines at Rs 2,910 a tonne with effect from October 8, 2022. Iron ore is one of the key raw materials used in the manufacturing of steel. Any movement in the prices of the mineral has a direct impact on the rates of steel, which has been a matter of concern for user industries for the past few months. The company had on August 11 fixed the prices of lump ore and fines at Rs 4,100/tonne and Rs 2,910 per tonne, respectively. The prices were unchanged at its next announcement on September 8. Research firm SteelMint said, "This is a rollover as compared to the last month. Iron ore prices and sales have been under pressure after government had imposed 15 per cent export tax. The newly-christened Kartavya Path can have a maximum of 120 ice-cream carts and water dispensing trolleys at six vending locations, NDMC said on Wednesday. New Delhi Municipal Council Vice Chairman Satish Upadhyay said that there are six vending zones on Kartavya Path between Central Vista Lawns and India Gate. "Each vending zone can have a maximum of 15 ice cream trolleys and five water dispensing kiosks. So cumulatively, 120 trolleys -- 90 ice cream trolleys and 30 water kiosks -- can be allowed in six vending areas. This is for better and effective management of vending kiosks," Upadhyay told PTI. Lok Sabha MP and NDMC member Meenakshi Lekhi said the proposal was approved in a special meeting of the NDMC Council. "We have approved the proposal to rename Rajpath as Kartavya Path in the special Council meeting today," Lekhi said.
