Adani Transmission integrates Adani Electricity Nashik for distribution biz

Adani Transmission has incorporated an arm, Adani Electricity Nashik Ltd, for distribution business in the Nashik area. It is aimed at applying parallel distribution license in the city. "The company has incorporated a wholly-owned subsidiary company in the name of 'Adani Electricity Nashik Ltd' (AENL) on 16th March, 2023," it said in a regulatory filing. AENL is incorporated in India and registered with the Registrar of Companies, Gujarat at Ahmedabad on March 16, 2023. AENL is yet to commence its business operations, according to the company.

ABB to invest Rs 1,000 cr in India in next 5 years; new facility in Nashik

Electrification and automation company ABB India on Friday announced to invest Rs 1,000 crore in the country in the next five years. The company, which inaugurated a new facility in Nashik on Friday, will be investing the money in adding capacity across the country, its country head and managing director Sanjeev Sharma said here. According to him, ABB India is planning to invest Rs 1,000 crore in the next five years for capacity expansion. Its new factory spread across 78,000 sq ft will help double the Gas Insulated Switchgear (GIS) production capacity, a statement said. The new facility will manufacture primary and secondary GIS. It will serve the power distribution, smart cities, data centres, transport (metro, railways), tunnels, ports, highways and other infrastructure developments, it said. Weeks after fire at Nashik factory, police file case against seven people

Weeks after three workers were killed in a fire at Jindal Poly Films Ltd in Nashik district, police on Wednesday filed a case against seven people, including the owner of the facility, its manager and operator. The January 1 fire at the company located at Mundhegaon alongside the Nashik-Mumbai National Highway in Igatpuri taluka also injured 22 workers. A case of accidental death and fire was registered at the Ghoti police station in the matter and investigations were on. Now, police have registered a case against seven people -- all associated with the fire-hit facility and holding different posts in the unit. As the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) was not followed while starting the plant after its checking and repairing, thermic fluid oil leaked from the unit which led to the fire, police said, quoting a report. International Year of Millets: 4,000kg bhagar prepared in Maha's Nashik

Four thousand kilograms of 'bhagar' (dish with barnyard millet and vegetables) was prepared on Sunday in Nashik in Maharashtra in honour of the United Nations declaring 2023 as the International Year of Millets on a proposal by India. Chef Vishnu Manohar said 400 kilograms of bhagar (barnyard millet), 250 kilograms potatoes, 37 kg salt, 125 kg oil, 2,700 litres of water, 400 kg curd, 100 litres of milk, 100 kg peanuts, 125 kg groundnut and 12 kg cumin seeds were needed by a team of 16 cooks to prepare the dish. The 10-foot radius pan in which the dish was prepared was brought from Nagpur and weighed 1.5 tonnes, while the three ladles weighed 22 kg each, he explained. The food was given to various NGOs involved in welfare of the poor as well as medical colleges and other such units.

GMRT raise concern over giant telescope functioning, near Pune-Nashik route

With the Pune-Nashik High-Speed Rail project getting in-principle approval of the Centre, researchers at the Giant Metrewave Radio Telescope (GMRT) here have expressed concern over likely disruption of the scientific facility operations due to continuous movement of trains on the route located near the observatory antennas. When contacted, a senior official of the Maharashtra Rail Infrastructure Development Corporation (Maharail) told PTI that necessary precautions will be taken and all the issues will be resolved. The GMRT, which operates at 150-1420 MHz, is located at Khodad, 80 km away from Pune city. It consists of 30 antennas each of 45 m diameter, and is operated by the National Centre for Radio Astrophysics (NCRA) of the Tata Institute of Fundamental Research. 2 killed, 17 injured in fire at Nashik chemical firm; govt to conduct probe

At least four people were injured in a fire which broke out after a blast in a boiler at a chemical company in Maharashtra's Nashik district on Sunday, a police official said. The incident took place at around 11.30 am in the unit located in Igatpuri when some workers were in the premises, he said. Fire brigade and police personnel rushed to the spot. Firefighting as well as search and rescue operations were underway at the site, the official said. At least four people were injured and they were rushed to hospital, the official said.

Union Minister Nitin Gadkari on Sunday said efforts are on to develop infrastructure to make Nashik a leading region in the country for export-import of agricultural produce as well as automobile and other manufacturing items. Villages in Nashik demand merger with Gujarat due to lack of development

Some villages in north Maharashtra's Nashik district have demanded that they should be included in Gujarat because they presently face apathy and lack of development, a local leader of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) claimed on Friday. The demand follows a recent row over Karnataka Chief Minister's claim that villages in Jat tehsil in southern Maharashtra once wanted to merge with his state. "Even after 75 years of Independence, many villages and Padas (hamlets) in Surgana taluka of Nashik do not have basic amenities. If you cannot develop these villages, merge them with Gujarat," NCP's Surgana taluka chief Chintaman Gavit said. Truck laden with hydrogen cylinders overturns, catches fire in Nashik

A truck laden with hydrogen cylinders overturned and caught fire on Manmad-Malegaon road in Maharashtra's Nashik district on Saturday, police said. There were no casualties in the accident that took place near Manmad in the afternoon, an official said. One of the front tyres of the truck, which was carrying 200 hydrogen gas cylinders, burst near Kandagaon Phata. The driver lost control of the wheel and the vehicle turned turtle, he said. The cylinders in the truck caught fire and started exploding one after another. The vehicle was completely gutted, the official said. There was panic in the area as the cylinders started exploding. Teams from the police, fire brigade and other agencies reached the spot, but couldn't go near the vehicle because of the blasts, he said. The police stopped vehicular traffic on the road up to 2 km, the official said, adding that the blaze was doused after three to four hours.

12 dead, 43 injured as bus catches fire after hitting truck in Nashik

Twelve passengers, including a two-year-old child, were killed and 43 others injured as a private bus travelling to Mumbai caught fire after hitting a trailer truck in Nashik city of Maharashtra early on Saturday, police officials said. The accident took place at Nandur Naka on Nashik-Aurangabad highway around 5.15 am when the sleeper bus was coming from Yavatmal in eastern Maharashtra, they said. Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed grief over the loss of lives in the bus tragedy and announced an ex-gratia of Rs 2 lakh for the next of kin of each deceased and Rs 50,000 each for the injured. Chief Minister Eknath Shinde announced a financial assistance of Rs 5 lakh to the families of the dead and said the medical expenses of the injured would be borne by the state government. 10 dead, 24 injured after bus hits truck, catches fire in Maharashtra

Ten persons were killed and 24 injured after a bus hit a truck and caught fire in Maharashtra's Nashik city early Saturday, police said. The accident took place on Aurangabad Road around 5 am, an official said. The private bus, a 'sleeper' coach, had around 30 passengers. It hit the truck at Nandur Naka and caught fire in a few minutes, the official said. The injured were rushed to a nearby hospital, the official said. Ex-Union minister, Congress leader Manikrao Gavit dies at 87 in Maharashtra

Former union minister and Congress leader Manikrao Gavit died of old age at a hospital in Maharashtra's Nashik on Saturday, sources said. Gavit was 87, and is survived by his daughter former MLA Nirmala Gavit and son Bharat. A nine-time Lok Sabha MP, Gavit represented the tribal-dominated Nandurbar constituency from 1980 to 2009, and lost the election in 2014. Gavit's son Bharat joined the BJP after he was denied ticket by the Congress in 2019, while daughter Nirmala, a two-time Congress MLA from Igatpuri, joined the Shiv Sena and lost her seat. Gavit served as the Union minister of state home in the Manmohan Singh government in 2004 and minister of state social justice in 2013.
