Maharashtra's Nagpur district recorded 5,993 cases of coronavirus and 57 more casualties on Wednesday, an official said. The latest infections and casualties have taken the district's tally to 2,97,036, while the toll rose to 5,960, the official said. At least 3,993 people were discharged during the day, taking the count of recoveries to 2,28,071, he said, adding the district is now left with 63,005 active cases, he added. With the addition of 21,558 swab samples tested in the last 24 hours, the number of tests conducted in the district went up to 18,94,971, the official said.
Nagpur district in Maharashtra on Tuesday reported 6,826 fresh coronavirus positive cases and 65 fatalities, taking the tally to 2,91,043 and the toll to 5,903, an official release said.

The civic body in Maharashtra's Nagpur city on Friday issued a notification banning Holi celebrations and Shab-e-Barat processions in public and private places amid the rise in COVID-19 cases. The state government has already imposed strict restrictions in Nagpur till March 31. According to an order issued by the Nagpur Municipal Corporation, not more than five people will be permitted to gather at public places during the festivals on March 28 and 29. Holi celebrations and Shab-e-Barat processions will not be permitted in private and public spaces, the notification stated. The NMC has further stated that all private establishments, offices, shops, markets and libraries will remain shut on March 29. Apart from this, all stand-alone grocery, vegetable, and meat shops will have to down their shutters after 1 pm on March 29, it was stated.
