Primus to add 2,000 units to senior living residences; enters Mumbai market

Senior living residences and retirement communities focused company Primus on Friday said it looks to add 2,000 units to its senior living residences as it enters the Mumbai market. The entry into the MMR (Mumbai Metropolitan Region) makes it the fourth metropolis after Bengaluru, Chennai and Pune. In a release, Primus said that it currently has over 700 units spread in three metro cities. With the entry into Mumbai, the company hopes to add another 450 units to its tally, taking the total units of senior living residences to 1,150 along with a pipeline of an additional 900 units. Southern cities account for a major share of the senior living market in the country. The entry of Primus into the Mumbai market will give a thrust and improve the footprint of senior living as a housing segment in the western region of the country, the company said. Vistara starts Mumbai-Dammam flight; second Saudi destination after Jeddah

Full-service carrier Vistara inaugurated its daily non-stop service between Mumbai and Dammam in Saudi Arabia on March 1, expanding its international services further in the Gulf region. Mumbai saw 70% rise in cyber crime cases in 2022: Dy CM Fadnavis

Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Friday said Mumbai witnessed a 70 per cent rise in cyber crime cases in 2022 compared to the previous year. At least 4,286 cases of cyber fraud were registered in Mumbai over a period of one year till November 2022, Fadnavis said responding to a question by MLC Bhai Girkar in the state Legislative Council. Till November 2022, the Mumbai police commissionerate recorded a 70 per cent rise in cyber frauds compared to the cases recorded till November 2021, the deputy chief minister said. As many as 1,294 cases of credit card and online frauds were registered in the city till November 2022 and of these, 37 have been solved, he said. There were 2,216 of cases involving online shopping, crypto currency investment, admissions in educational institutions, insurance, investment and jobs frauds registered during this period and 132 have been detected, he said. Mumbai jumps to 37th place globally in price growth in luxury housing

Mumbai's rank has improved to 37th from 92nd in a global list of movement in prices of luxury homes as the city saw an appreciation of 6.4 per cent during 2022 calendar year, according to Knight Frank India. In a virtual conference, property consultant Knight Frank on Wednesday released its 'The Wealth Report 2023'. "The value of Prime International Residential Index (PIRI 100) that tracks the movement in luxury house prices across the world increased by 5.2 per cent YoY (year-on-year) in 2022," Knight Frank said. In the report, the consultant has analysed prime property price performances in 100 cities, and sun and ski locations globally. Out of 100, 85 locations recorded positive or flat price growth in 2022. Registration of properties in Mumbai city falls 11% to 9,268 units in Feb

Registration of properties in Mumbai city fell 11 per cent year-on-year in February to 9,268 units amid rise in interest rates on home loans, according to Knight Frank India. As many as 10,379 properties were registered in February last year. Registration of properties stood at 10,172 in February 2021. Real estate consultant Knight Frank India in a statement said Mumbai city (area under BMC jurisdiction) saw property sales registration of 9,268 units in February 2023. The registration of properties contributed over Rs 1,084 crore to the state revenues. Of the total properties registered, 82 per cent were housing properties while 18 per cent were non-residential properties. The Railways has decided to replicate the colourful and disable- friendly signages introduced at the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT) station in Mumbai in more than 1200 railway stations notified to be modernised under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme, sources have said. They said this is a first-of-its-kind effort not only to re-invent them, but also to bring uniformity in its designs. The Central Railway installed new indicative board and signage facilities at CSMT to give an international look and feel to the iconic World Heritage Site station. These signages which are in varied colour schemes and big fonts can be seen from a distance. First phase of Mumbai coastal road likely to be completed by Nov: BMC

The first phase of the Mumbai coastal road -- from Marine Drive to Worli -- is likely to be ready by November 2023, a senior official of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) said on Friday. The total estimated cost of the project, being constructed by the BMC, is Rs 12,721 crore. Phase I, the 10.58 km stretch from Marine Drive to Worli in south Mumbai, would be operational by November, BMC chief engineer M M Swami told reporters. As much as 71 percent work is complete, he said. Tunnel boring work is 91 percent complete, reclamation 93 percent, retaining wall 79 percent, interchanges 36 percent and bridges are 32 percent complete, Swami added. The project began in October 2018. The total reclaimed area is 111 hectares. The coastal road is expected to cut travel time between Marine Lines in south Mumbai and Kandivali in north Mumbai by 70 percent and fuel consumption by 34 percent as well as reducing noise and air pollution, Swami said.

Mumbai transport takes 400 buses off roads as 3 CNG buses catch fire

Mumbai's civic transport body BEST on Wednesday said it was taking 400 leased buses off roads after three incidents of these buses catching fire were reported within one month. A bus of the Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport (BEST) undertaking was completely gutted in fire in suburban Andheri earlier in the evening. No one was injured in the incident, officials said. In view of these incidents involving TATA CNG buses operated by M/S Mateshwari Ltd, BEST has decided to take all 400 buses off roads till the OEM (original manufacturer) and operator take necessary corrective measures to ensure that such incidents do not happen in future, said BEST general manager Lokesh Chandra in a statement.

Major fire breaks out in Mumbai's Dharavi slum, no injury reported

A major fire broke out in Dharavi, the biggest slum in Mumbai, in the wee hours of Wednesday, but there was no report of injury to anyone, officials said. The blaze erupted in some shanties in Kamala Nagar and Shahu Nagar localities near the Dharavi fire station around 4.15 am, they said. "At least 12 fire engines, eight water tankers and other fire brigade vehicles are engaged in the firefighting operation that is currently underway," a civic official said. The fire is confined to some huts, but there has been no report of injury to anyone, he said. Personnel from the Mumbai Police, Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation's (BMC) administrative ward and other agencies are present at the spot, the official said, adding that the cause of the fire is being ascertained. SpiceJet flight returns to Mumbai airport due to cabin pressurisation alert

A Kandla-bound SpiceJet flight from Mumbai returned to the city airport on Saturday due to a cabin "pressurisation alert," the airline has said. The aircraft has landed safely and neither passengers nor crew members have reported any discomfort, SpiceJet said in a statement. The airline, however, did not share the number of persons onboard the Bombardier Q400 aircraft. On February 18, SpiceJet Q400 aircraft was scheduled to operate the airline's flight SG-2903 (Mumbai - Kandla), the airline said in the statement. "After take-off, cabin pressurisation alert came. The pilot-in-command decided to return to Mumbai," it said. According to SpiceJet, the Mumbai Air Traffic Control was apprised of the situation and the aircraft was landed "safely" at Mumbai. The operation of the airline's flight to Tirupati from Mumbai was also affected. It has not been cancelled, the statement said, adding that only its scheduled time of departure has been revised.

Godrej Properties Ltd has acquired legendary film actor, director and producer Raj Kapoor's Bungalow at Chembur in Mumbai for around Rs 100 crore to develop a luxury housing project with a sales potential of Rs 500 crore. The land was purchased from the Kapoor family, legal heirs of Raj Kapoor, the company said in a regulatory filing. Godrej Properties Ltd on Friday said it has acquired legendary film actor, director, and producer Raj Kapoor's Bungalow at Chembur in Mumbai to develop a luxury housing project. The land was purchased from the Kapoor family, legal heirs of Raj Kapoor, the company said in a regulatory filing. The deal value has not been disclosed.
