Prasanna Kumar Motupalli was on Thursday appointed as Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) of the state-run NLC India Ltd (NLCIL), a Personnel Ministry order said. The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has approved Motupalli's appointment till the date of his superannuation that is June 30, 2026, it said. Motupalli, Executive Director of NTPC Ltd, is presently working as Managing Director in Gujarat State Electricity Corporation Limited on deputation basis.
Over 3,100 new government services will be added for online delivery during the five-day good governance week that begins from Monday, a statement issued by the Personnel Ministry on Sunday said. Former Health Secretary Preeti Sudan on Tuesday took oath as a member of the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC), according to a Personnel Ministry statement. The UPSC conducts civil services examination annually in three stages -- preliminary, main and interview -- to select officers of Indian Administrative Service (IAS), Indian Foreign Service (IFS) and Indian Police Service (IPS) among others. Sudan, a 1983-batch (retired) IAS officer of Andhra Pradesh cadre, was administered the oath by UPSC chairman Manoj Soni at the central hall of the main building of the commission here, it said. Union Minister Jitendra Singh on Friday reviewed the preparations for the swachhata campaign 2.0 and a special campaign for disposal of pending matters to be conducted by the central government from October 2. The campaign involves freeing of office spaces by clearing pending matters and disposal of physical files and other junk. The special campaign 2022 is expected to cover outstation post offices, overseas mission/posts, railway stations, and other public offices during the month-long campaign, a statement issued by the Personnel Ministry said. According to the statement, the swachhata campaign '21 was conducted at 6,154 sites. During the campaign, 21.9 lakh files were weeded out, 12.01 lakh sq feet of space was cleared, and Rs 62 crore in revenue was earned through disposing of scrap, it said. Junkyards in ministries have been turned into courtyard, cafeteria, wellness centre or parking space, it said.

The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has approved his appointment as Secretary (Security), Cabinet Secretariat, it said. The Secretary (Security) is the administrative head of the Special Protection Group (SPG) that provides security to the prime minister and members of his immediate family residing with him at his official residence. The SPG also provides security to any former prime minister and members of his immediate family residing with him at the residence allotted to him for a period of five years from the date he ceases to hold the office of the prime minister.

Earlier, the officers of the level of Deputy Secretary and above were asked to attend the offices on all working days. For government servants below the level of Under Secretary, at least 50 per cent attendance is to be ensured, it said. The Heads of Department may mandate attendance of more than 50 per cent, if required in public interest, while strictly ensuring that social distancing is maintained under all circumstances, the guidelines said. The government servants at the level of Under Secretary and above have to attend offices on all working days, the ministry said in its order issued to all central government departments saying that this directive shall be in force with immediate effect. All officers and staff residing in the containment zone shall be exempted from coming to .
