MCD brings auto approval for name addition in birth certificate up to 4 yrs

The Municipal Corporation of Delhi on Tuesday announced that the name of a child can be added to the birth certificate online up to four years after birth and it will be approved automatically. Earlier, the online process took 7-10 days, a senior official said. "Now, parents or guardians can get names added in birth certificates of children online up to four years after their birth, and the process will be approved automatically," he said. Many parents approached the civic body saying they needed to submit documents in schools for admission of their children and due to longer waiting time for approval from the civic authorities, they were facing hassles, the official said. G-20 summit 2023: Delhi civic body begins beautification of over 370 places

Over 370 public places in Delhi have been identified for beautification in view of the G-20 summit next year, civic officials said on Saturday. The Municipal Corporation of Delhi has earmarked 375 public places for planting exotic flowering species, including gazania and pansy, in all its 12 zones, it said in a statement. These places include 16 flyovers, 261 colony parks, 27 parks situated at markets, 62 parks situated on main roads and nine roundabouts. The Municipal Corporation of Delhi has installed 85 electric vehicle charging stations at 82 locations and 92 more such facilities are to be set up by December, officials said on Friday. The Government of India is promoting EVs adoption in India and has recently announced its target to reach 25 per cent EV adoption by 2030, the MCD said in a statement. Several state governments are also working towards accelerating EV adoption in their respective states, it added. Dog-bite cases: About 1,100 pet dogs registered since April 2022, says MCD

MCD on Friday said it has registered about 1,100 pet dogs since April 1, an exercise that began to check rising incidents of dog-bite. The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) had on September 11 asked residents to get their pets registered in view of "rising incidents of dog-bite" in the national capital region, and warned that action could be taken for non-compliance of the norm. "About 1,100 pet dogs have been registered from April till now," a senior official said. Under the section 399 of Delhi Municipal Corporation (DMC) Act, 1957, it is mandatory to register all pet dogs with the municipal corporation. The section also gives power to the MCD to detain a pet dog found in a public place, if it is not registered with it, the civic body had earlier said.
