The BJP on Monday lashed out at the Arvind Kejriwal-led AAP government in Delhi over corruption and pollution as the party's top guns stepped up campaigning with less than a week to go for the civic polls. Top BJP leaders on Monday addressed 80 public meetings and contract programmes across the city. Addressing a campaign meeting at Sriram Colony, BJP National General Secretary Arun Singh said leaders and activists needed to ramp up efforts by 20 per cent ahead of the December 4 elections to ensure the victory of party candidates. In back-to-back public meetings, Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar and his Madhya Pradesh counterpart Shivraj Singh Chouhan slammed the Kejriwal government over corruption. At a public meeting in Shalimar Bagh, Chouhan said the Delhi chief Kejriwal should be given a "Dhokha Ratna" for creating a mess in the national capital and bringing it infamy. Khattar slammed AAP for dragging its feet on Parali (paddy straw) burning in Punjab after forming a

Senior AAP leader Manish Sisodia on Saturday alleged that the BJP extorted money from people and emptied their pockets instead of cleaning the garbage in the city in the past 15 years. Holding street corner meetings at R K Puram, Munirka, Vasant Vihar, Mehrauli and Chhattarpur, Sisodia said the city residents are fed up with the BJP's incompetence in the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) and that they will vote to bring the AAP to the civic body. People will choose the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in MCD too to fasten the pace of development work across Delhi. The BJP extorted money from the common man and emptied their pockets. People are fed up with the BJP's incompetence and hence, they will vote for the AAP in the upcoming civic body polls, he underlined. The senior AAP leader further accused the saffron party of failing to perform its core functions in the last 15 years in MCD. The core responsibility of the BJP was to ensure cleanliness of parks, roads, bylanes, and sewers across
People will overthrow the "most corrupt" party in the December 4 Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) polls, Aam Aadmi Party leader Raghav Chadha said on Saturday, targeting the BJP. In an interview with PTI, he alleged that the MCD under the BJP's 15-year rule "failed miserably" in its primary responsibility of ensuring cleanliness in the city. "Not even a single lane is cleaned by the MCD in a city where tonnes of waste are generated every day. The BJP has ruined the civic body. People see Kejriwal as a powerhouse who transformed the education and health sectors and he will do the same in the civic body as well," Chadha said. Earlier this month, the AAP released "Kejriwal's 10 guarantees" for the MCD polls which included the promise to clear three landfill sites and address the problem of "garbage mismanagement" in the city. Speaking about the multiple demolition drives carried out by the MCD earlier this year, Chadha asserted the AAP will regularise the unauthorised construction
With the AAP turning the issue of landfill sites into a poll plank ahead of the municipal election in Delhi, BJP MP Gautam Gambhir has hit out at Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, asking where was he for the last eight years when it came to finding a solution for the massive garbage dump in Ghazipur. The Ghazipur landfill site is a giant garbage dump in east Delhi. Talking to PTI, Gambhir, who represents the East Delhi constituency in the Lok Sabha, blamed the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) for what he described as "a dismal state" of the national capital. He said the work done at the Ghazipur landfill site is an example of how a BJP-led MCD can "make a difference". The cricketer-turned-politician said in the last eight years, "we have only heard the Delhi chief minister blame the Centre for everything, but no one asked him what is his responsibility as the chief minister". He should come out and speak, Gambhir added. The people of Delhi can see it for themselves what the Ghazipur landfill

Launching the campaign, Congress Delhi president Anil Chaudhary said the party's MCD election campaign will centre around issues affecting people and that only the Congress will provide solutions to the "water crisis situation" in the national capital. Senior AAP leader Manish Sisodia on Wednesday said the people of Delhi would give a "befitting response" to the BJP, which had "failed" to perform its primary responsibility during its 15-year tenure in charge of the civic body. The BJP has been in power in the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) -- trifurcated in 2012 into north, south and east corporations and then unified this year -- for three straight terms. Addressing public meetings at wards in Harkesh Nagar, Pul Prahladpur and Tughlakabad, Sisodia said citizens of the national capital were "fed up" with the civic body and would choose the party that worked for development this time. "It is unfortunate that the BJP looted and threatened the citizens in the name of house tax in Delhi. We will waive off dues of private residential buildings within a month and ensure no house pays more than half the present property tax," he said. Chaudhary said the Delhi Congress will constitute a municipal valuation committee, which will re-categorise colonies under the MCD, and unit area rates will be fixed based on category of roads where the properties are located. "We will also ensure basic standards of civic infrastructure and services in all settlements and strengthen the Unique Property Identification Code (UPIC) project. All records ...

Tiwari claimed that around 28,000 voters out of more th
