Bharat Jodo Yatra continues in Maha, Rahul to address rally in Nanded

The Congress's Bharat Jodo Yatra continued on the fourth day of its Maharashtra leg on Thursday in Nanded district where Rahul Gandhi will address a public rally in the evening. Gandhi resumed the foot march at 6 am from Kapshi Chowk in Loha area of Nanded where a large number of people gathered to greet him. The former Congress president waved at the crowd, called members of the public near him and spoke to them while walking. Gautam Adani meets Eknath Shinde at Maharashtra CM's official residence

Adani Group chairperson Gautam Adani visited Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde at his official residence in Mumbai, an official said on Wednesday. Tata Power Renewable Energy to set up 150 MW solar project in Solapur

Tata Power Renewable Energy said it has received a 'letter of award' to set up a 150 MW solar project in Solapur, Maharashtra. The project will be commissioned within 18 months from the power purchase agreement (PPA) execution date. "Tata Power Renewable Energy Ltd (TPREL), a subsidiary of Tata Power receives the 'Letter of Award' (LoA) from the Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Corporation Ltd (MSEDCL) to set up 150MW solar project in Solapur, Maharashtra," it said in a statement. The LoA was won through tariff-based competitive bidding followed by an e-reverse auction, it added. TPREL CEO Ashish Khanna said, "The award is in line with our commitment to create a sustainable ecosystem for transitioning towards a greener future and affirms our potential to deliver...world-class solar projects." 22 booked for stone pelting at minister Sattar's residence in Aurangabad

An offence has been registered 22 persons for allegedly shouting slogans and pelting stones at Maharashtra Minister Abdul Sattar's residence to protest his alleged comment against Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) MP Supriya Sule, police said on Tuesday. An offence was registered against 22 protestors, 17 of whom have been identified, at Begumpura police station on Monday night, an official said. The state agriculture minister on Monday stoked a controversy with his alleged objectionable remarks against Sule, triggering protests by NCP workers in various cities. Rahul resumes Bharat Jodo Yatra after visiting gurdwara in Maharashtra

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi resumed his Bharat Jodo Yatra in Maharashtra on Tuesday morning after visiting a gurdwara in Nanded district as the foot march entered into its 62nd day. The Congress MP visited Gurdwara Yaadgari Baba Zoravar Singh ji Fateh Singh ji on the occasion of Guru Nanak Jayanti a few hours after the yatra entered Maharashtra Monday night from neighbouring Telangana. At the gurdwara, Gandhi prayed for harmony and equality, the party tweeted. Maharashtra logs 91 new Covid cases, zero fatality; active tally at 1,525

Maharashtra on Monday recorded 91 fresh cases of coronavirus that raised the tally of infections to 81,33,494, an official from the state health department said. The toll remained unchanged at 1,48,394, while the count of recoveries reached 79,83,575, after 126 people recovered from the infection in the last 24 hours, the official said. As per a bulletin issued by the department, the state is now left with 1,525 active cases. Of the 91 new cases, Mumbai accounted for 25 infections, the bulletin stated. The recovery rate stands at 98.16 per cent, while the fatality rate is at 1.82 per cent, it said. With the addition of 5,574 samples tested in the last 24 hours, the total number of tests conducted in the state has risen to 8,53,55,764, the bulletin said. Coronavirus figures of Maharashtra are as follows: Positive cases 81,33,494; fresh cases 91; death toll 1,48,394; recoveries 79,83,575; active cases 1,525; total tests 8,53,55,764.

'Pawar's participation in 'Bharat Jodo Yatra' will depend on his health'

Senior Congress leader Ashok Chavan has said the participation of Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) chief Sharad Pawar in the 'Bharat Jodo Yatra' in Maharashtra will depend on his health condition. The 'Bharat Jodo Yatra', a mass outreach initiative of the Congress which began on September 7 from Kanyakumari, is scheduled to enter Maharashtra's Nanded district on Monday night from neighbouring Telangana. Thane records 38 new Covid cases in last 24 hours; active tally at 365

As many as 38 new cases of coronavirus have been detected in Maharashtra's Thane district, taking its tally of infections to 7,46,970, a health official said on Sunday. With the addition of the latest cases on Saturday, there are currently 365 active COVID-19 cases in the district, which is a part of the Mumbai Metropolitan Region, he said. Fire in electrical metre room of highrise in Thane district; none hurt

A major fire erupted in the electrical metre room of a 15-storey building at Thakurli in Thane district of Maharashtra on Saturday, a Fire Brigade official said. Fire officer Namdeo Choudhary of Kalyan Dombivali Municipal Corporation (KDMC) said no one was injured in the fire that broke out due to a short circuit at around 9 AM. The fire was doused after a short while. The blaze destroyed the wiring in the building duct up to the 13th floor. At least four residents of the building were admitted due to the inhalation of smoke at a local hospital, he said. Thankfully, the blaze didn't spread.

Maharashtra logs 219 new Covid cases, three deaths; active tally 1,639

Maharashtra on Saturday recorded 219 new cases of coronavirus and three fatalities, taking the tally of infections to 81,33,173 and toll to 1,48,394, an official from the state health department said. As per a report issued by the department, the casualties were reported from Mumbai, Pune and Osmanabad circles, in the last 24 hours. The state witnessed a slight dip in the daily cases, as it had reported 230 infections on Friday. With the addition of 15,518 swab samples tested in the last 24 hours, the number of tests conducted in the state has risen to 8,53,36,362, the report stated. Mumbai circle, which includes the Mumbai Metropolitan Region, reported the highest 116 new cases, followed by Pune (72), Nagpur (8), Aurangabad (7), Nashik (5), Akola (5), Kolhapur (4), and Latur (2), it stated.
