Four dead, 35 injured after passenger bus overturns in MP's Sagar district

As many as four persons died and 35 people sustained injuries after a passenger bus overturned in Madhya Pradesh's Sagar district on Saturday morning, a police official said.The accident happened at Niwar Ghati on Sagar-Chhatarpur Highway under Chhanbila police station limits in the district at around 6 am, said Kripal Marco, Chhanbila police station in charge said, adding that the bus was travelling to Chhatarpur from Indore.He added that on getting the information about the accident, the police team and the ambulance rushed to the spot and started the rescue operation. The police administration had called JCB and hydraulic machines to lift the bus. After a lot of effort, the bus was lifted and the body of the bus was cut to take out the passengers trapped in the bus.The injured passengers were taken out from the bus and then sent to the hospital. 12 cheetahs from S Africa released into enclosures at Kuno National Park

Hours after 12 cheetahs were brought to Madhya Pradesh from South Africa on Saturday, they were released into the quarantine enclosures at the Kuno National Park (KNP) in Sheopur district of the state. Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan and Union Minister for Environment and Forests Bhupender Yadav released these felines into the quarantine bomas after they were transported to the KNP from Gwalior around noon. An Indian Air Force (IAF) plane carrying them in wooden boxes from South Africa had arrived at Gwalior airport around 10 am. From there, they were flown to the KNP in IAF helicopters. These cheetahs - seven males and five females - comprise the second set of big cats coming to the state, with the first group of eight from Namibia having been released into the KNP on September 17 last year at a function by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Protection and restitution of cultural heritage will be the theme for the first G20 culture track meet slated to be held from February 22-25 in Madhya Pradesh's Khajuraho, a top official said on Wednesday. Union Culture Secretary Govind Mohan, during a media interaction here, also said that the second and third meetings under this track will be held at Bhubaneswar in Odisha and Hampi in Karnataka. Khajuraho is home to exquisite temples which are part of a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The temples, renowned for their sculptures, are situated in the backward Bundelkhand region of Madhya Pradesh. Indore Municipal Corporation's green bonds generate over Rs 720 crore

The green bonds floated by the Indore Municipal Corporation (IMC) as a public issue for setting up solar power plants has received a overwhelming response from investors and attracted a subscription of around Rs 721 crore. This amount is almost six times more than the base price of the issue of Rs 122 crore, IMC officials said on Tuesday. According to officials, IMC had floated green bonds to raise a total of Rs 244 crore for setting up a 60 MW solar power plant, the first of its kind offering by any civic body in the country in the capital market. They said that on February 10, the first day of opening of the bond, it received a subscription of Rs 661.52 crore, while at the time of its closure on Tuesday, the amount reached Rs 720.75 crore. 12 S African cheetahs to land in India on Feb 18; Kuno park to welcome them

After months of delay, 12 cheetahs from South Africa will finally arrive on February 18 in Madhya Pradesh's Kuno National Park (KNP), where eight such spotted cats were brought from Namibia last year, a wildlife expert associated with India's cheetah revival project has said. These big cats seven males and five females will embark on journey to their new home thousands of miles away aboard an Indian Air Force (IAF) transport aircraft from the OR Tambo International Airport, Gauteng, South Africa on Friday evening, the project participant and expert told PTI. The Madhya Pradesh Police have arrested three members of the banned outfit Popular Front of India (PFI) on charges of conspiring against the government and indulging in unlawful activities, an official said on Sunday. With this, the police have taken into custody four members of the banned outfit in the last couple of days. In the latest action, two PFI members were arrested in Madhya Pradesh capital Bhopal on Saturday while the third one was arrested after being brought on production warrant from Aurangabad (in Maharashtra) in connection with a case registered by the MP Police's Special Task Force last year, the official said. The fifth edition of the Khelo India Youth Games (KIYG) will be inaugurated by Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan in the presence of Union Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs Anurag Singh Thakur at Tatya Tope Nagar Stadium here on Monday evening. In a tragic incident, a Sukhoi and a Mirage-2000 aircraft of the Indian Air Force crashed in Madhya Pradesh's Morena district following an accident during a routine training mission on Saturday, killing a pilot. Officials said the two pilots of the Sukhoi-30MKI aircraft ejected safely while the pilot of the Mirage-2000 lost his life. "Two fighter aircraft of IAF were involved in an accident near Gwalior today morning," the IAF said in a statement. It said the aircraft were on a routine operational flying training mission. "One of the three pilots involved, sustained fatal injuries. An inquiry has been ordered to determine the cause of the accident," the IAF said. India signs pact with S Africa to bring 12 more cheetahs in February

India has signed an agreement with South Africa to translocate 12 cheetahs to the Kuno National Park in Madhya Pradesh, a senior official in the Union Environment Ministry said on Friday. The pact was signed last week and seven male and five female cheetahs are expected to reach Kuno by February 15, the official said. The 12 South African cheetahs have been in quarantine for more than six months and were expected to reach Kuno this month but the transfer was delayed as "some processes in South Africa took some time", the official said on condition of anonymity. Cheetah is the only large carnivore that got completely wiped out from India due to over-hunting and habitat loss. The last cheetah died in Koriya district of present-day Chhattisgarh in 1947 and the species was declared extinct in 1952.
