McDonald's to hire 5,000 people, double stores in Northern, Eastern India

Quick service restaurant McDonald's India (North and East) on Monday said it will hire around 5,000 people as it looks to double its outlets to cross 300 restaurants in the region over the next three year, its top official said on Monday. It rolled out its largest restaurant in India at Guwahati, spread across 6,700 sq ft with a capacity to feed 220 people at a time, on Monday as part of its expansion exercise. Speaking to PTI, McDonald's India (North and East) Managing Director Rajeev Ranjan said the company is on a rapid growth path and looking to expand its network across the states under it. "All issues and problems are behind us and we are focussed on growing our business," he said while replying to a query if the legal matters with the erstwhile McDonald's partner has been settled. Assam Cabinet clears recruitment for 10,000 positions: Himanta Biswa Sarma

Recruitment for about 10,000 government posts was sanctioned by the Assam cabinet on Wednesday, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said. It also cleared reservation in top positions in the government for retired officers of the armed forces to improve work culture, he said. Briefing reporters after chairing a cabinet meeting at the Gandhi Mandap here, Sarma said the decision on the recruitment was in line with fulfilling the promise of providing one lakh government jobs in the state. "The cabinet has today approved the third Assam Forest Battalion, with an intake of 1,100 personnel and based in Lakhimpur. Another 1,700 vacant posts in the Forest Department will also be filled up," he said. Around 6,000-7,000 appointments in the Education Department, including regular and contractual, have been cleared, and the advertisements for these will be out by December 31, he said. Global Captive Centres to add 364k jobs in next 12 months: Report

Global Captive Centres (GCCs) are looking to ramp up their workforce and add close to 3.64 lakh jobs within next 12 months amid a spurt in service demand from key global markets, says a report. According to NLB Services' India Captivating Report, the GCC sector will scale up from the current USD 35.9 billion to USD 60-85 billion by 2026. A spurt in service demand from key global markets (34 per cent) is the key reason driving the demand for talent. From a sub-sector perspective, IT Software & Consulting with 33 per cent of the respondents keen on ramping up the talent pool topped the chart. The next were BFSI (21 per cent) and Internet & Telecom (16 per cent). Among cities, Bengaluru leads in terms of job creation. "India currently accounts for around 45 per cent of the global GCCs in operations and this share is expected to grow further," NLB Services CEO Sachin Alug said.
