Govt seeks explanation from IndiGo on issues raised by Rakesh Gangwal

The government has sought explanations from InterGlobe Aviation on allegations of corporate governance lapses raised by co-founder and promoter Rakesh Gangwal. In a filing to the stock exchanges, the company on Thursday said it received a communication on Wednesday from the Ministry of Corporate Affairs (MCA) regarding the complaint. The Registrar of Companies (RoC), National Capital Territory of Delhi & Haryana has sought "certain information/explanations" in relation to Gangwal's complaint. "The company will respond to MCA within the prescribed period," the filing said. Explanations have been sought under Section 206(4) of the Companies Act, 2013. Section 26 provides powers for the ministry to call for information, inspect books and conduct inquiries. The ministry's communication comes less than 10 days after Gangwal flagged concerns about corporate governance lapses at InterGlobe Aviation, especially certain related party transactions entered into by co-founder Rahul Bhatia's

One more IndiGo A320neo grounded, P&W engine woes continue

Budget carrier IndiGo today grounded one more A320 Neo fitted with Pratt&Whitney engine due to "oil chip issue" taking the total number of such planes on ground to seven. IndiGo confirmed the grounding of the plane bearing registration no VT-ITK after completing its flight to New Delhi from Kochi today. "VT-ITK (Neo) operating COK-DEL (Cochi-New Delhi) was alerted with an 'oil chip' message on engine no 1 post landing at Delhi. As a part of troubleshooting, aircraft was withdrawn at Delhi," IndiGo said in a statement. Significantly, aviation regulator Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) had grounded eight of IndiGo A320 Neo planes on March 12 along with three of GoAir due to safety issues. "Including this aircraft, IndiGo now has seven NEOs grounded," the airline said in a statement.
