30,550 Indian students received a Tier 4 Study Visa for the year ending September 2019, up from nearly 18,730 the previous year, UK's Office for National Statistics (ONS) reveal
"Indian students are looking for a great education and the United States offers the best return on this investment," Phillips said
Applicants are either applying to the top varsities in the US or increasingly looking at safer destinations in terms of permanent residency as well as placement opportunities
The visa will allow eligible students to work, or crucially look for work, in any career or position of their choice, for two years after completing their studies
Sixty per cent of Indian respondents surveyed said they were in their current jobs because it was exactly the type of work they wanted to do
The number of undergraduate students also went up by 6.2% to 23,346
