Consulting and banking emerged as top sectors in the recently concluded placement season for the 2015-2017 Postgraduate Programme (PGP) batch at the Indian Institute of Management here (IIM-B) this year. The consulting sector was led by The Boston Consulting Group (BCG) and Accenture Strategy, which made 20 and 14 offers, including pre-placement offers (PPOs), respectively. Consulting firms in all took 30 per cent of the 411-strong batch, similar to last year. However, interest dipped from the e-commerce sector this year as compared to last year, IIMB stated. "We experienced a qualitative improvement in the placements. Increased hiring by banks, consulting and consumer goods firms compensated for firms that could not participate," said Ganesh N Prabhu, head of Career Development Services at the institute. Consulting firms led by Deloitte USI at 18 offers, The Boston Consulting Group (17) and AT Kearney ( 16) turn up as top recruiters at Indian Institute of Management, Bangalore (IIM-B) which wraps up its placements for its post graduate programme in management (PGP) batch of 2016-18. The lateral and final placements process at IIM-B saw 420 students receiving 462 offers from over 140 companies, in India and abroad, across all possible business sectors.
