Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India (HMSI) on Friday said it has crossed 11 lakh cumulative sales mark in the domestic market for BS-VI compliant two-wheelers. The company said it had ended 2019-20 fiscal with sales of over 6.5 lakh units of BS-VI compliant two-wheelers. It's a matter of great pride for us at Honda, that our 11 advanced BS-VI models have won the vote of confidence and created a new joy of riding among customers across India," HMSI Director - Sales and Marketing Yadvinder Singh Guleria said in a statement. The company's product portfolio stands out as the industry's most diverse starting from 110cc scooters and motorcycles going up to 1,100cc premium adventure bikes, he added. "As many customers are now preferring personal mobility for safety and hygiene in the challenging times of new normal, Honda is unlocking new value with its many initiatives like online bookings, and attractive retail finance schemes," Guleria said.
Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India said it has launched online booking platform on its official website in order to strengthen contactless customer engagement in times of social distancing.

On the launch day itself, 301 units of Dio BSVI were delivered across the city, HMSI said in a release. Suzuki Motorcycle India Pvt Ltd (SMIPL) has overtaken Hero MotoCorp to be the third largest scooter maker by sales in the first half (H1) of the current fiscal, according to a latest data by auto industry body SIAM. Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India (HMSI) continues to be the undisputed leader in the segment followed distantly by Chennai-based TVS Motor Company. In April-September this fiscal, SMIPL sold a total of 3,41,928 units of scooters as compared to Hero MotoCorp's 2,49,365 units, as per Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM) data. During the comparable period a year ago, SMIPL had sold 2,91,847 units as compared to Hero MotoCorp's 3,91,019 units. In terms of growth, SMIPL saw its scooter sales grow by 17.16 per cent in April-September this fiscal -- the only scooter maker among top the top five manufacturers to post positive numbers. Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India (HMSI) on Thursday said discussions were going on with trade union members to find a solution for its Manesar plant, which has been shut indefinitely. The Japanese two-wheeler major decided to suspend operations at the manufacturing facility last week as workers protested for a over a week against the retrenchment of their 200 contractual colleagues. "Discussions are going on...there were 200 contractual workers whose tenure was over and they won't be employed further," HMSI Senior Vice President, Sales and Marketing, Yadvinder Singh Guleria told reporters here when asked to comment on the matter. The stand-off at the facility, which employs around 1,900 permanent workers and 2,500 contract workers, began on November 5 morning when the company management did not allow some of the contractual workers to go inside the plant. Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India (HMSI) Thursday said it has logged a 12 per cent year-on-year growth in sales at 521,159 units in October. The company had sold 466,552 units in the same month last year. Domestic sales surged 12 per cent to 490,124 units in October this year, against 437,548 units sold in the same month last year, while exports grew by 7 per cent to 31,035 units, compared with 29,004 units shipped out in the year-ago month, the firm said in a release. Scooter sales grew by 10 per cent to 322,108 units in October, from 293,117 units in the year-ago month, it said. The double-digit growth in October came on the back of the festive season demand, the release said, adding the sales of five lakh vehicles was achieved for the fifth time in the on-going year.

India's second largest two-wheeler maker Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India (HMSI) has strongly denied the claims of a section of its sacked employees that production at its Tapukara, Rajasthan plant has been hit by labour unrest. "There is no production loss at all at the 1.2-million units Tapukara plant in the first place. Therefore, the claims of these few sacked employees that the operation is hit is factually incorrect. In fact, we are running above our capacity. Moreover, they have no locus standi to make any such claims as they ceased to be our employees in the first week of February this year," HMSI senior vice-president and director, general and corporate affairs, Harbhajan Singh told PTI.
