Maharashtra: Water level rises in Godavari after heavy rainfall

The water level which has been rising in the Godavari River due to continuous heavy rainfall led to river banks being breached in Nashik district on Monday.The torrential rain has disrupted normal life and led to a flood-like situation in Nashik, bringing life to a standstill.Earlier, on Sunday, Regional Meteorological Center, Mumbai informed through Twitter, "With the formation of a depression over north-west Bay of Bengal & adj. Odisha coast and its expected west-northward movement, Monsoon active over Konkan belt and adjoining ghat areas of Madhya Maharashtra."The India Metrological Department also predicted heavy rainfall for today at isolated places over Maharashtra.

Heavy rains lash Saurashtra; Guj monsoon deficit contracts 10% in one week

Several parts of Gujarat's Saurashtra region on Wednesday received very heavy rainfall with more showers expected in the next four days, officials said. The fresh spell of downpour that started a few days ago will help reduce the rainfall deficiency of Gujarat, they said . The IMD has forecast widespread rainfall till Friday with heavy to very heavy rainfall in some parts of the state with isolated extremely heavy showers in some districts of Saurashtra and south Gujarat regions during the next four days. As per the State Emergency Operation Centre (SEOC), parts of Gir Somnath, Amreli, Rajkot and Bhavnagar districts received rainfall of over 100 mm in 12 hours till Wednesday evening. Sutrapada and Babra talukas of Gir Somnath and Amreli districts received 138 and 130 mm rainfall, respectively, it said. As many as 162 out of 251 talukas of Gujarat witnessed wet spell on Wednesday. Extensive waterlogging, traffic congestion in Delhi due to heavy rains

As rains continued to lash Delhi, extensive waterlogging and traffic snarls were reported at several places in the city on Sunday. The Safdarjung Observatory, considered the official marker for Delhi, recorded 28.2 mm rainfall, while the Ridge station registered 28.6 mm rainfall from 8.30 am on Saturday to 8.30 am on Sunday, officials said. According to the Public Works Department, Yamuna Bazar, Khanpur, Rohtak Road, Lodhi Road, Azadpur underpass, Zakhira underpass, Shakti Nagar underpass, Kirari, Sagarpur, among others witnessed severe waterlogging. PWD officials said nearly 20-30 waterlogging complaints were received in the morning. The officials said the workers are on the ground and waterlogging-related complaints are being attended on priority. Police said they received waterlogging-related complaints after 8 am from the underpass of Patparganj Road, located near Mother Dairy, Yamuna Vihar, Malka Ganj, near Tis Hazari and Kashmiri Gate metro stations, Chaudhary Fateh Singh Ma
