Rajesh Bhushan gets charge of Secretary, Department of Health Research

Union health secretary Rajesh Bhushan was on Saturday given the additional charge of the Secretary, Department of Health Research, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. The decision comes after the tenure of Dr Balram Bhargava as Director General of the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) and Secretary, Department of Health Research came to an end. "The competent authority has approved the assignment of additional charge of the post of Secretary, Department of Health Research, Ministry of Health & Family Welfare to Shri Rajesh Bhushan, Secretary, Department of Health, with immediate effect and till the appointment of a regular incumbent or until further orders, whichever is earlier," an order by the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) stated. Bhargava's tenure as ICMR D-G was on April 12 extended for three more months. He was appointed as the Director General of the apex research body on April 16, 2018 for four years. Health Ministry issues guidelines for the management of Monkeypox

The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare on Friday releases guidelines for the management of Monkeypox disease.The ministry listed out points for the general masses to avoid the contradiction of the disease which included avoiding contact with sick people and avoiding contact with dead or wild animals(rodents, monkeys).The general public has also been advised to visit the nearest health facility if one comes in close contact with monkeypox-affected person or an area with the affected persons or animals.The Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) on Friday informed about 15 Virus Research & Diagnostic Laboratories across the country on a micro-blogging website."To help country's preparedness for Monkey Pox detection, 15 Virus Research & Diagnostic Laboratories across the country, which are geographically well distributed & strategically located, have already been trained in the diagnostic test by ICMR -NIV, Pune," tweeted the ICMR.India reported its first monkeypox

Assam's Cachar district makes face masks mandatory as Covid cases rise

Amid the rise in COVID-19 cases, the Cachar district administration of Assam has made it mandatory to wear face masks in all offices and public gatherings in the district.An order issued by the Deputy Commissioner of the district read, "In view of the increasing trend of Covid-19 cases in Cachar district in last one week, the district-specific COVID guidelines are hereby notified and are to be followed by all concerned - All the Officers or Officials within Cachar district are to wear a mandatory face mask in their respective offices or areas (Both Government & Private) while performing regular public services and Covid appropriate behaviour need to be maintained.""All the Doctors, Paramedical Staffs and other Staffs of Health Institutions/Hospitals (BothGovernment & Private) are to use compulsory face masks during service delivery (i.e. in OPD, Emergency, IPD, OT, Labor room, Laboratory. Waiting areas, Registration Counter etc.). All people are to mandatory use face mask .
