Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar on Friday said that with the changing nature of traditional farming, peasants can earn more income by adopting new technologies in the agriculture sector. With this objective, the government is taking concrete steps for promoting research in the agriculture sector, which will prove beneficial in the economic upliftment of the farmers, Khattar said. He was interacting with the farmers and agricultural experts after inaugurating Dhanuka Agritech Research and Technology Center at village Sihol in Palwal district, an official statement said here. The chief minister said that today two big projects are dedicated to Palwal district, of which one project is for water conservation and the other project will motivate the farmers towards farming with new technology. A total turnout of 76.45 per cent was recorded in Haryana's Adampur Assembly segment in Hisar district where bypolls were held on Thursday. Till last reports came on Thursday, the poll percentage was 75.25 and officials had said the final figure may slightly increase once the entire data is compiled. On Friday, the Election Commission of India data showed that Adampur recorded a poll percentage of 76.45 percent. The outcome of the bypoll will decide if the Bhajan Lal family retains the family bastion of five decades. Bhavya Bishnoi, grandson of former chief minister Bhajan Lal, had entered the fray as a BJP candidate. Counting of votes will be taken up on November 6. The main parties which contested the polls were the BJP, Congress, Indian National Lok Dal, and Aam Aadmi Party. A high turnout of more than 80 per cent was recorded in the election for panches and sarpanches in nine Haryana districts in the first of the three-phase voting on Wednesday. "Barring a stray incident, polling remained peaceful," Haryana State Election Commissioner Dhanpat Singh told PTI. According to the figures of the Haryana State Election Commission available at 10 pm, 81.4 per cent voting was recorded in the nine districts. The polling was held between 7 am and 6 pm in the districts of Bhiwani, Jhajjar, Jind, Kaithal, Mahendragarh, Nuh, Panchkula, Panipat and Yamunanagar. The polling is held in Bhiwani, Jhajjar, Jind, Kaithal, Mahendragarh, Nuh, Panchkula, Panipat and Yamunanagar. There are 49 lakh voters altogether in these districts, they said. Haryana State Election Commissioner Dhanpat Singh on Friday said 133 sarpanches and 17,158 panches have been unanimously elected in nine districts of the state ahead of the November 2 panchayat elections. On October 30, polling will take place to elect members of zila parishad and panchayat samitis of the nine districts, while polls for sarpanches and panches of gram panchayats of these nine districts will be held on November 2. About 28,000 mobile phone numbers being misused for committing cybercrimes have been identified and they will be blocked soon, a senior Haryana Police officer said on Thursday. The 27,824 phone numbers were identified through cybercrime helpline number 1930 and complaint portal cybercrime.gov.in, Additional Director General of Police (Crime) O P Singh said. The details of these numbers have been sent to the field units for getting them uploaded on the CyberSafe portal operated by the India Cyber Crime Coordination Centre under the Union home ministry in order to block them, the senior police officer said. As a measure to check air pollution, the Haryana government is considering announcing a minimum support price (MSP) on stubble so that farmers sell their crop residue instead of burning it, Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar said on Wednesday. He said the number of stubble burning cases has come down substantially in Haryana. The state government gives Rs 1,000 per acre to farmers for not burning the crop residue, Khattar said, adding that it also helps them sell the crop residue to refineries and other industries. Asserting that his government is "very serious" about the issue of stubble burning, Khattar said, "We have succeeded in putting a check on stubble burning with cooperation from farmers by providing financial help to them and making them aware of its harmful effects."
