E-commerce firm Flipkart's social commerce unit Shopsy claims to have registered a six-fold growth in customers and orders in the recently concluded festive season sale, a top official of the entity said on Tuesday. Flipkart New Business Head and Senior Vice President Adarsh Menon said that the company crossed 100 million app downloads in July out of which an estimated 80 per cent of the app users visited the site during the "The Big Billion Day" (TBBD) sale. "Our customer grew six times during the TBBD as well as orders. Almost 65 per cent of the orders came from tier-2 and below towns. Around 75 per cent of orders came through the selection of products that Shopsy has. "Between July - September 2022 Shopsy has grown by 2 times in the overall customer base and units sold further strengthening its presence across the country," Menon said. E-commerce firm Flipkart has recorded 70 per cent growth in sales of premium mobile phones during the eight-day long festive season sale, the company said on Friday. Premium mobile phones costing Rs 20,000 and upwards comprised almost 50 per cent of the total mobile sales and more than 44 per cent of the buyers of premium mobile phones came from Tier-2 and Tier-3 cities. "India truly upgraded this Big Billion Days (BBD) with categories like mobiles, electronics and large appliances witnessing a growth of over 70 and 30 per cent each, respectively, in the uptake of premium products over the last BBD," Flipkart said in a statement. The Delhi High Court on Friday put in abeyance an order of the Central Consumer Protection Authority (CCPA) asking online marketplace Flipkart to recall certain sold pressure cookers that allegedly did not meet quality standards. While directing that Flipkart's petition against the CCPA order be tagged along with a similar plea by e-commerce giant Amazon, Justice Yashwant Varma asked Flipkart to deposit the penalty of Rs 1 lakh imposed on it by CCPA and also notify the buyers of all the pressure cookers in question. The court sought CCPA's response to the plea by Flipkart and said the interim order which was passed in Amazon's case will also be extended the present matter. The petitioner is entitled to the interim relief (as granted to Amazon earlier) on identical terms, the court said.
