England are being "too nice" and need to "get nasty" against Australia in the Boxing Day Test to fight back in the ongoing Ashes series, feels former skipper Michael Vaughan. England suffered heavy defeats in the first two Tests to be down 0-2 in the five-match series. "It's too nice," Vaughan, who led England to 26 wins in 51 Tests, including the 2005 Ashes, said on Fox Cricket's Follow-On podcast. "I see on the morning of the game they are all talking to Mitchell Starc and Nathan Lyon. I never had a conversation with Steve Waugh back in the day. I wouldn't have dared go and speak to Glenn McGrath on the morning of the game or Shane Warne. You just didn't. "It's all a bit friendly. I'd get nasty with them They somehow need to find that on day one. Get into the scrap. Chirp, do whatever, just get into the scrap." Vaughan wants England to bring a change in their attitude on the field. "They are at that stage now where they have to change something," the 47-year-old vaughan, who s

England allrounder Ben Stokes is finding some perspective after returning to cricket from a six-month absence due to a finger injury and for a mental health break. Stokes sent down 25 overs in taking 3-113 in a draining, physical effort in the second Ashes test at Adelaide, part of the 150 overs England spent in the field over the first two days. England will resume on Saturday's third day of play in trouble at 17-2 in reply to Australia's imposing 473-9 declared. It has been a tough two days, Stokes told Australian Associated Press. It's never ideal but you have just got to love the dirt when you get that deep and understand what you're playing for. Stokes also took a wider view of England's struggles, noting the tragic jumping castle accident in Tasmania on Thursday which killed five children. The reason why the Australians were wearing the black armbands today puts a lot of things into perspective, he said. Stokes was upbeat about his return. I have loved every minute of it, h
Steve Smith won the toss Thursday and elected to bat against England in the second test of the Ashes cricket series
England Test skipper Joe Root has admitted that he expected too much out of all-rounder Ben Stokes in the first Ashes Test.England and Australia will lock horns in the second Test, beginning Thursday at Adelaide. Australia won the first Test by nine wickets to gain a 1-0 lead in the five-match series."It was a huge ask and I'm probably as guilty as anyone; I expected too much of him. It's because I see him almost as a bit of a superhero. Look at what he's done in the last few years when he's played; at least once a series, maybe twice a series, he's done something extraordinary which has won us a game on its own. And you do get a little complacent about expecting that," ESPNcricinfo quoted Root as saying."It's easy to forget on a big occasion like that, whether it's because he's not played a huge amount and also what he's had to go through recently as well, I think there was a bit too much on him. But you know the character he is, it'll have motivated him even more now to put in one ..

He will be assessed overnight by the medical staff team, as he was clearly seen struggling the entire day."Obviously Ben has hurt himself on the field today so didn't bowl full pace at the back end of the day. Think our medical guys will assess him overnight and see how he is. Other than that the guys are okay," said England bowling coach Jon Lewis as reported by ESPNcricinfo.Talking about the team's preparations, Lewis said that the team will 'dust' themselves, and will be all set to perform on Day 3 of the Ashes."Our preparation probably played a part in the last session, but it is what it is, similar for both sides. Cricket Australia on Monday confirmed the fifth Test of the upcoming Ashes series will no longer be played in Perth. The governing body said bio-security requirements, which would have required players to quarantine on arrival in Western Australia, were too difficult to overcome. An alternative venue hasn't yet been named but Hobart in Tasmania may be the front-runner. Queensland, Victoria and New South Wales states, along with Australian Capital Territory also have expressed interest in hosting the match. "We are very disappointed that we are unable to stage the fifth men's Ashes Test at Perth Stadium," Cricket Australia chief executive Nick Hockley said.
