India has trade deficit with China in electronics, computer hardware

The major commodities in which India has a trade deficit with China include electronic components, computer hardware, telecom instruments, industrial machinery for dairy and organic chemicals, Parliament was informed on Wednesday. Some of the services in which India has a trade deficit with China include construction, telecommunication, computer and information services, maintenance and repair services, Minister of State for Commerce and Industry Anupriya Patel said in a written reply to the Lok Sabha. She said the commodities exhibiting trade deficit with China constituted 86.7 per cent of the total trade in 2014-15, which has reduced to 83.8 per cent of the total trade with China in 2021-22. "Similarly, the services exhibiting trade deficit with China contributed 30.3 per cent to the total trade with China in 2014, which has reduced to 18.5 per cent in 2019," she said. Gujarat launches new electronics policy, to generate 1 mn job opportunities

The Gujarat government on Saturday launched a new Electronics Policy to generate 10 lakh new employment opportunities in the Electronics System Design & Manufacturing (ESDM) sector in the state. The 'Gujarat Electronics Policy 2022-2028' has been designed to make Gujarat a national hub of ESDM by offering a host of subsidies and incentives to the investors, said an official release. Those wanting to invest in the ESDM sector in Gujarat will be given up to 20 per cent capital expenditure (capex) assistance with a ceiling of Rs 200 crore under the policy, the release said, adding that eligible investors will be entitled to get 100 per cent reimbursement on stamp duty and registration fee paid to the government. While eligible entrepreneurs are exempted from paying any electricity duty, the state government will provide a power tariff subsidy of Rs 1 per unit for a period of five years. Tamil Nadu to soon come out with electronic hardware policy: CM Stalin

Tamil Nadu would soon come out with a new electronic hardware policy aimed at boosting domestic hardware production and exports, Chief Minister M K Stalin said on Friday. The State has been attracting investments not only in manufacturing of smartphones but also in computers, electronic parts, telecommunication equipment, home appliances, he said after inaugurating a manufacturing unit of Pegatron Technology India Pvt Ltd in neighbouring Chengalpet district. "The government considers the electronics department as an emerging sector and soon a Tamil Nadu electronic hardware policy will be rolled out to boost domestic production and exports," Stalin said. He unveiled a plaque at Mahindra World City, about 45 km from here, to mark the inauguration of the manufacturing facility set up at an investment of Rs 1,100 crore that would generate 14,000 jobs. IT rules: Twitter complies with Meity's final notice, says report

Social media platform Twitter has complied with the final notice issued by the Ministry of Electronics and IT on June 27, an official source said on Monday. The Ministry of Electronics and IT had set a deadline of July 4, failing which Twitter could have lost the intermediary status, which means it will be liable for all the comments posted on its platform. "Twitter has complied with the notice," an official source told PTI on the condition of anonymity. According to another official source, the social media firm was asked to take action on some tweets and Twitter accounts but the microblogging had not reported compliance on the same earlier. Twitter declined to comment on the matter. The government in May had asked Twitter to act on content related to Khalistan and accounts eulogising terrorists in Kashmir.
