M&M to invest Rs 10,000 cr to set up plant in Pune for upcoming EV range

Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd on Wednesday said it will invest Rs 10,000 crore in the next 7-8 years in the manufacturing and development of electric vehicles at Pune, Maharashtra. The investment of Rs 10,000 crore for electric vehicles has been approved under the Maharashtra government's industrial promotion scheme for electric vehicles, M&M said in a regulatory filing. "The company, through its subsidiary, will make investments of approximately Rs 10,000 crore over a period of 7-8 years for setting up the manufacturing facility, development, and production of Mahindra's upcoming Born Electric Vehicles (BEVs)," it added. Some of these BEVs were showcased in Oxfordshire, UK, on August 15, 2022, it added. Pravaig launches electric SUV Defy at Rs 39.5 lakh; deliveries next year

Electric mobility startup Pravaig Dynamics on Friday launched a sports utility vehicle Defy, tagged at Rs 39.5 lakh (ex-showroom) to compete with the likes of Audi e-tron and Mercedes Benz EQC . The Bengaluru-based company has commenced the bookings of the model and deliveries are expected to begin from the third quarter of next year. The company aims to produce 10 lakh units by 2028 and cater to both domestic and international markets. "At the beginning we will try to address the domestic market and will look at exports in 2024," Pravaig Chief Strategy Officer Ram Divedi told PTI in an interaction here. In the long run 70 per cent of the production would go into the overseas markets, he added. Divedi said Defy is more affordable to own than other competing products in the market. The SUV comes with a driving range of around 500 km and 402 BHP power, he added. EV company Ather Energy lines up aggressive expansion plan in Tamil Nadu

Electric two-wheeler maker Ather Energy on Sunday said it has drawn up plans to set up 150 fast-charging grids in Tamil Nadu by the end of the current financial year. The company recently inaugurated its first experience centre in Salem under its move to expand retail footprint in the state. With the inauguration of the experience centre, Ather Energy has nine retail stores in Tamil Nadu. "There are plans to expand its retail footprint to 15 stores and add 150 fast-charging grids in the state by the end of current financial year," a company statement said here.
