1,700 applications received from students for DU's fee waiver scheme

Around 1,700 applications have been received for the Delhi University's fee waiver scheme for students from an economically weak background, an official said on Thursday. The university will examine the applications and release the final list of the students who will become beneficiaries of the Financial Support Scheme (FSS), the official said. January 31 was the last date for applying for the scheme. "We have received around 1,700 applications for the fee waiver scheme so far. The university through this scheme will extend the benefits of equity, access and quality with excellence, both in letter and spirit, to the financially weak students," the official told PTI. In keeping with the spirit of the government's "Sabka Sath, Sabka Vikas" motto, the DU had announced the scheme in November last year. Delhi University launches 100% fee waiver scheme for EWS students

The Delhi University has started a scheme of fee waiver for students from an economically weak background to provide the benefits of equity, access and quality with excellence to everyone, an official said on Wednesday. The waiver includes all components of the fees paid by the students except the examination fee and the hostel fee. Students from an economically weak background can get up to 100 per cent fee waiver, depending on their family income. A full-time bona fide student studying in the university is eligible to apply for it. December 12 is the last date for applying. "The University of Delhi celebrates diversity and is deeply committed to holistic and inclusive education. The Supreme Court is scheduled to pronounce on Monday its judgement on a batch of pleas challenging the validity of the 103rd Constitution amendment providing 10 per cent reservation to economically weaker sections (EWS) persons in admissions and government jobs. According to the causelist of November 7 uploaded on the apex court website, a five-judge Constitution bench headed by Chief Justice Uday Umesh Lalit would deliver the verdict in the matter. PM Modi inaugurates 3,024 EWS flats in Delhi to rehabilitate slum dwellers

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday inaugurated 3,024 newly constructed flats for the Economically Weaker Sections in Delhi as part of an in-situ slum rehabilitation project. He did the honours at a ceremony here which was also attended by the beneficiaries. Modi handed over the keys of the flats to many of them. The Congress on Wednesday alleged a six-year delay and 68-per cent cost escalation in the construction of 3,024 flats for Economically Weaker Sections as part of a slum rehabilitation project in Kalkaji. Delhi: Fresh online applications for EWS, special needs children from Oct 3

Fresh online applications for admissions under economically weaker sections/disadvantaged (EWS/DG) and children with special needs (CWSN) categories into entry-level classes for the 2022-23 session will be available from October 3, the Delhi government's Directorate of Education said. Applications will be available on the departmental website till October 10. "Opening of online module for filing of online application by the candidate under EWS/DG category for 5,881 vacant seats and CWSN 4,448 vacancies will be available from October 3. Tentative date and time of online computerised draw of lots to be announced on October 14," the circular said. The list of schools with vacancies will be updated on the website at 11 am on October 3.
