Dubai Air Show opens to industry on the mend amid Covid-19 pandemic

Dubai's biennial Air Show opened Sunday to a world still reeling from the pandemic and an aviation industry hard-hit by the coronavirus, but on the mend. Boeing and Airbus have traditionally been the stars of the aviation trade show, competing for multi-billion-dollar Gulf-based airline purchases and hammering out final details minutes before back-to-back press conferences. This year, however, the five-day exhibition is expected to be much more muted than in past years due to the subdued state of flying and travel amid the COVID-19 pandemic and delays in the global supply chain that have affected plane manufacturers. Dubai went into a brief lockdown last year, but has since swung open its doors to vaccinated and unvaccinated travellers as it tries to lure back leisure and business spending and draw visitors to its multi-billion-dollar EXPO 2020 World's Fair site. The India Pavilion at EXPO2020 Dubai has emerged as one of the most-visited pavilions at EXPO2020 Dubai with the number of visitors crossing 3 lakh in just 43 days on November 12.The pavilion was inaugurated on October 1 by Minister of Commerce & Industry, Consumer Affairs & Food & Public Distribution and Textiles, Piyush Goyal."The huge interest of visitors in India pavilion is a sign of confidence on India's resilience and opportunities, besides the vibrant culture of the country, which is in full display in different state weeks being held in the pavilion. The pavilion has been visited by 31 country delegations, and 175 high-profile visitors have also graced it with their visit. With this, 199 G2B and B2B meetings have taken place at the pavilion along with the Startup pitching sessions.
