A Pakistani drone entering India from across the international border in Rajasthan has been shot down by the Border Security Force (BSF) on Monday evening, a spokesperson of the force said. The flying machine was downed in the Sriganganagar sector of the state and five packets of "suspected" narcotics, that were being ferried, has been recovered, he said. In a related incident, a China-made drone was recovered by the BSF and the state police from along the India-Pakistan frontier in Punjab's border district of Fazilka on Monday.
Amazon and Flipkart Health plus are among the 20 online sellers that have been issued show-cause notices by the Drugs Controller General of India (DCGI) over the online sale of drugs in violation of norms. The show-cause notice dated February 8 by DCGI V G Somani cited a Delhi High Court order dated December 12, 2018, which prohibits online sales of medicines without a licence. The notice stated that the DCGI had forwarded the order to all state and Union Territories in May and November 2019 and again on February 3 for necessary action and compliance. Drug major Sun Pharma is recalling over 34,000 bottles of a generic medication, used to treat high blood pressure, in the US market due to failed dissolution testing. As per the US Food and Drug Administration's Enforcement Report, the US-based arm of Sun Pharmaceutical Industries is recalling lots of Diltiazem Hydrochloride extended-release capsules which are used to treat angina, high blood pressure and some types of irregular heartbeats. Princeton (New Jersey) based Sun Pharmaceutical Inc is recalling the affected lot due to "Failed Impurity (Deacetyl Diltiazem Hydrochloride) specification during stability testing and failed dissolution testing at FDA laboratory." The Mumbai-based drug major had produced the lot at its Halol-based manufacturing facility in Gujarat. The affected lot was later distributed in the market by its US-based unit. Mumbai Police seized drugs worth more than Rs 40 lakh following a raid in Mazgaon area of the city on Monday, an official said. The police also apprehended a few persons from the spot for enquiry, the official said without elaborating. Based on a specific information, the Mumbai Crime Branch's Anti-Narcotics Cell conducted the raid at Navanagar in Mazgaon area and seized the drugs, he said.

Speaking to reporters after taking charge as Kochi City Police Commissioner, Sethuraman said, "Our priority is to ensure that no child from now on becomes an addict to drugs. That is our goal. Around 2kg of opium and 650 grams of brown sugar were seized in two separate raids in Jharkhand's Hazaribag district, police said on Monday. The worth of the contraband is Rs 60 lakh and eight peddlers have been arrested, the police said. The police seized the opium on Sunday, while the brown sugar was recovered on Monday under Pelawal police station area of the district, around 100-km from capital Ranchi, Hazaribag superintendent of police (SP) Manoj Ratan Chothe said. Addressing reporters, the SP said that five people have been arrested in connection with the brown sugar seizure. The police had a tip-off that they were coming to Hazaribag to sell brown sugar to a person, who was yet to be identified, he said. The Delhi Police on Wednesday destroyed over 2,800 kgs of drugs worth Rs 1,513.05 crore seized under a campaign in the last eight years, officials said. Security forces recovered heroin worth crores in Baramulla district of Jammu and Kashmir, police said Sunday. During a routine check at AD Post in Hathlanga area of Uri, security forces intercepted a suspicious looking man who tried to flee when they tried to approach him, a police spokesperson said. When police searched him, he was found to have four packets of heroin-like substance worth crores of rupees in his possession, he said. The person was identified as Imtiyaz Ahmad Bhat, a resident of Sahoora area of Uri, he said. Bhat was arrested and taken to a police station where he remains in custody, he said. A case has been registered and investigation set in motion, the spokesperson added.

Punjab Police on Tuesday apprehended 98 people, including three proclaimed offenders, and recovered narcotics and weapons during a five-hour statewide cordon-and-search operation aimed at checking the movement of anti-social elements and drug smugglers. The police lodged 97 FIRs during the operation, which was conducted simultaneously from 11 am to 4 pm. Over 12,000 personnel under the supervision of additional director general (ADG), inspector general and district police chiefs took part in the operation. The police recovered 1 kg heroin, Rs 10.91 lakh in cash, 158 litres of illicit liquor, 660 kg 'lahan' (raw material used to manufacture illicit liquor), 103 kg poppy husk, 19 kg 'bhang' and 10,460 intoxicant tablets. They also seized two pistols, a rifle and a gun along with ammunition and 30 motorcycles, the police said.
