Covid-19 pandemic: Delhi reported 766 fresh cases and five deaths

Delhi reported 766 COVID-19 cases along with five fatalities, while the positivity rate marginally declined to 1.37 per cent, according to data shared by the Health Department here on Wednesday. With this, the national capital's case count increased to 18,53,428 and the death toll climbed to 26,086, the latest health bulletin stated. Delhi on Tuesday reported 756 fresh COVID-19 cases and five deaths, while the positivity rate stood at 1.52 per cent. The number of COVID-19 tests conducted a day ago stood at 56,112, it said. Delhi had on Monday reported 586 cases with a positivity rate of 1.37 per cent, and four deaths. The number of daily cases in Delhi has been on the decline after touching the record high of 28,867 on January 13. Delhi on Friday reported 977 fresh COVID-19 cases and 12 more deaths, while the positivity rate dropped to 1.73 per cent, according to data shared by the city health department. With this, the national capital's case count increased to 18,49,596 and the death toll climbed to 26,047, the latest health bulletin stated. Strong winds improve Delhi air quality; temperature settles at 22.6 deg C

Strong winds led to a significant improvement in Delhi's air quality on Thursday, even as the city recorded a maximum temperature of 22.6 degrees Celsius, normal for this time of the year. Residents of the Delhi-NCR witnessed mainly clear skies with shallow to moderate fog in isolated pockets during the day. Precipitation and strong winds over the last two days have improved Delhi's air quality significantly. The 24-hour air quality index (AQI) in the national capital read 172 at 4 pm which falls in the 'moderate' category. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the minimum temperature was recorded at 9.1 degrees Celsius, a notch below the season's average. Humidity levels oscillated between 100 per cent and 41 per cent, it said. The AQI in neighbouring Gurugram (140) and Faridabad (169) were also recorded in the 'moderate' category.
