Union Minister of State for Culture Meenakshi Lekhi on Wednesday unveiled a vibrant mural in south Delhi depicting 75 major historical sites and famous places of the city, as part of Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav celebrations. Lekhi also shared on Twitter a video of the expansive mural done on a wall in the South Extension area of the city. From the Mughal-era Red Fort to the British-era India Gate, and from Parliament House to the National War Memorial, a whole range of subjects have been displayed in the mural. Qutub Minar, the giant statue of Lord Hanuman at Jhandewalan, Jantar Mantar, and Humayun's Tomb are among other landmarks portrayed in it. Celebrated comedian-actor Raju Srivastava died on Wednesday after over 40 days of hospitalisation here, said his brother Dipoo Srivastava. He was 58. Raju Srivastava suffered a heart attack on August 10 while working out at a hotel here. He was rushed to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) and underwent angioplasty. Since then, he was on the ventilator and never gained consciousness. "I got a call from the family about half-an-hour ago saying he is no more. It is really unfortunate news. He was fighting in the hospital for over 40 days," Dipoo Srivastava told PTI. Raju Srivastava was declared dead at 10.20 am, according to hospital sources. Four people sleeping on a road divider were killed and two others injured in the early hours of Wednesday after they were run over by a speeding truck in northeast Delhi's Seemapuri area, police said. Two of the victims died on the spot, they said. At 1:51 am on Wednesday, a truck that was crossing the DTC depot traffic signal and going towards the DLF T-point crushed six people sleeping on a road divider. The driver was driving rashly and negligently, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Shahdara) R Sathiyasundaram said. Two people died on the spot and four were rushed to GTB Hospital. Out of the four injured, one was declared brought dead and another died during treatment, the DCP said. Generally cloudy sky with light rainfall is expected in the national capital for the next five days, according to an Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) bulletin on Tuesday. Light to moderate rainfall lashed parts of Delhi-NCR on Tuesday, that led to waterlogging and traffic jam in several areas. Rainfall occurred over mostly northern parts of Delhi and most of southern part of Delhi was missed. Heavy rainfall was concentrated near Ridge area. Moderate Rainfall also occurred over some parts of NCR, the IMD said. Ridge road received 87 millimetre rainfall while the Delhi University area received 83.5 mm rainfall, the weather department said. The new cases were detected from 9,865 tests conducted the previous day, the department said in its latest bulletin. The government did not issue a bulletin on Monday. A 30-year-old Nigerian woman has tested positive for monkeypox in Delhi, making it the city's ninth and India's 14th case of the infection, officials said on Monday. The woman was admitted to the LNJP Hospital here with blisters and pus-filled lesions on genitals on September 16. Her test report came back on Sunday, they added. A Delhi court on Saturday sent AAP MLA Amanatullah Khan to four-day custody of the Anti-Corruption Branch in a case related to alleged irregularities in the Delhi Waqf Board recruitment. Special Judge Vikas Dhull passed the order on a plea moved by the Anti-Corruption Branch (ACB), which said it needed to interrogate Khan for a thorough investigation. In its plea seeking Khan's 14-day custody, the agency claimed that five of Khan's relatives were appointed in the board, while 22 were from Okhla, which he represents. A person whose income is Rs 4.32 lakh is receiving cash worth Rs 4 crore..., the prosecution told the court. On an average, more than 11,600 Delhiites have opted in for power subsidy per hour, filing application with the discoms, since the process was launched by Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Wednesday afternoon, officials said. Around 6.15 lakh power consumers in Delhi had applied for the subsidy by 5.40 pm on Friday. These included 2,58,852 BRPL, 1,73,875 BYPL, 1,78,584 TPDDL and 2,351 NDMC consumers, they said. The chief minister, at a press conference on Wednesday, had said power consumers in Delhi will get subsidy from October 1 only if they demand it by submitting offline or online applications. He had launched a phone number 70113 11111 for consumers to give a missed call or send WhatsApp message to opt for the subsidy. In the first two days, up to 5.30 pm on Thursday, around 3.4 lakh consumers had applied for power subsidy. Gold price in the national capital tumbled Rs 813 to Rs 49,447 per 10 grams on Friday, according to HDFC Securities. The price of the yellow metal fell below Rs 50,000 after it stood at Rs 50,290 per grams on Thursday. The COMEX spot price of gold also declined to USD 1,655 per ounce compared to USD 1,663 per ounce on Thursday. Silver price in the national capital declined Rs 1,379 to Rs 55,982 per kilogram. On Thursday, the price was Rs 57,361 per kg. On Friday, the COMEX spot price of silver was USD 18.84 per ounce as against USD 19.16 per ounce on Thursday. The ED on Friday launched fresh raids at about 40 locations across the country, including at the Delhi residence of a YSRCP MP, as part of a money laundering investigation into alleged irregularities in the now scrapped Delhi Excise Policy, official sources said. The searches are being conducted at premises linked to liquor businessmen, distributors and supply chain networks in Nellore and some other cities in Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, and Delhi-NCR, they said. The premises linked to YSRCP Lok Sabha MP from Ongole M Sreenivasulu Reddy in Delhi are also being searched, they said. Reddy has links with liquor distributorship business.
