Delhi detects 4 more cases of Omicron variant, tally rises to 6: Minister

Delhi Health Minister Satyendar Jain on Tuesday said four more cases of the new COVID-19 variant, Omicron, have been detected in the national capital and all have travel history to foreign countries. The Omicron variant of the coronavirus has not spread in the community so far and the situation is under control, he added. "So far, six people have been found Omicron positive in the capital. One of them has been discharged. All of them had travelled to foreign countries and were transferred to the Lok Nayak Jai Prakash Narayan (LNJP) hospital from the (Indira Gandhi International) airport," Jain told reporters. So far, 74 travellers have been sent from the airport to the hospital, where a special ward has been set up for isolating and treating suspected cases of Omicron. Delhi's air quality improves marginally, moves to poor category

The air quality in the national capital marginally improved and moved to the 'poor' category on Sunday morning.The System of Air Quality and Weather Forecasting And Research (SAFAR) portal of the Ministry of Earth Sciences reported an air quality index (AQI) of 256. Delhi reported 52 new COVID-19 cases in the past 24 hours.According to the health bulletin on Saturday, 37 patients recovered in the last 24 hours taking the total recoveries in the national capital to 14,16,177. At present, there are 385 COVID-19 active cases in Delhi.The positivity rate for the day stands at 0.09 per cent.
