Jacqueline Fernandez appears before Delhi Police in Sukesh extortion case

Bollywood actor Jacqueline Fernandez on Wednesday appeared before Delhi Police's Economic Offences Wing in connection with an extortion case linked to alleged conman Sukesh Chandrashekhar, officials said. Fernandez, a Sri Lankan national, joined the probe after being issued a third summons, they said. The actor was accompanied by Pinki Irani who allegedly introduced her to Chandrashekhar, a senior police officer said. The "Housefull 3" actor had been asked to join the probe on Monday but cited prior commitments and sought another date. Earlier this month, another Bollywood actor, Norah Fatehi, was questioned by the agency got six to seven hours in the case and her statement recorded. 3 sharpshooters of Bishnoi-Goldy Brar gang nabbed in northwest Delhi

The Delhi Police on Saturday arrested three sharpshooters of Lawrance Bishnoi-Goldy Brar gang from near Barwala-Bawana road, officials said. The accused were identified as Naveen, 23, Manoj, 28, and Karambir, 28, all three residents of Jhajjar in Haryana, they said. The three were nabbed after police laid a trap near the Helipad on Barwala-Bawana road on Saturday around 4 pm, they said. Despite being warned to surrender, the assailants fired three to four rounds from their pistols in their bid to escape, police said. A police personnel wearing a bulletproof jacket got hit by a bullet, they said. All three accused were in direct contact with Goldy Brar, who lives in Canada, through Signal app for the past many days. Brar was able to arrange money, shelter, and weapons for the accused, who were contracted for a hit job on a person whose identity was to be disclosed on the very day of the execution, police said. No unmanned barricades will be left on roads, Delhi Police tells HC

The Delhi High Court was informed on Monday by the Delhi Police that no unmanned barricades will be left on roads and people can report any unattended barricade at helpline number, 112 or tag police on Twitter and action will be immediately taken. The high court termed it a welcome step and said with this social media step, a check can be kept on unmanned barricades. A bench of Justices Mukta Gupta and Anish Dayal was also informed by the Delhi police counsel that as per new guidelines issued by the police, no barricades will be put on roads during peak hours unless there is specific input or information regarding law and order or crime detection under the order of a senior officer of Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) rank. Security arrangements in place for Congress rally at Ramlila Maidan: Police

Adequate security arrangements have been made in and around the Ramlila Maidan in central Delhi in view of the Congress' protest on Sunday, officials said. The Delhi Police has also issued a traffic advisory on its official Twitter handle, alerting the commuters about road closures on Sunday. According to police, paramilitary forces will be deployed along with the local police at the venue for the rally and metal detectors will also be placed at the entry points of the ground. Court issues contempt notice to Delhi Police for non-compliance of orders

A court here has issued a contempt notice to the Delhi Police Commissioner in a case of alleged gangrape of a woman and said "the narration and sequence of events in the case depicted a sordid and pathetic state of affairs in the administration of Delhi Police." Cyber crime rate in Delhi increased over 100% during 2020-21, shows data

The national capital in 2021 witnessed a 111 per cent increase in the cyber crimes as compared to the previous year with the NCRB data citing sexual exploitation to be the motive behind maximum number of cases. Delhi Police Commissioner Sanjay Arora will hold his first 'Jan-Sunwai' (public hearing) in his office at the city police headquarters from August 24 onwards, officials said on Monday. This will be the first 'Jan Sunwai' session by a Delhi Police chief in two years. In the past, 'Jan Sunwai' was conducted to meet complainants to address their grievances but the practice was stopped due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Arora, who took charge as Delhi Police commissioner on August 1, will restart 'Jan Sunwai'. According to an official circular, 'Jan Sunwai' will commence from August 24.
