9.8 km tunnel on Banihal-Katra railway link completed in Jammu and Kashmir

The 9.8 km tunnel connecting two stations on 111 km under-construction Banihal-Katra railway link in Jammu and Kashmir was completed on Monday, officials said. It is part of the Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla Railway Line (USBRL) project. This is the third tunnel following the 12.6 km tunnel T-49B, the longest tunnel of Indian Railways, which was completed in January this year. On August 14, the world's highest rail bridge over the Chenab river in the Kouri area of Reasi district achieved a milestone when the overarch deck of the bridge was completed with a golden joint. The breakthrough was executed by conducting a blast and with it, the work on the escape tunnel T-13 was started, said the officials engaged in the work. L&T Construction bags large order for buildings, factories business

Larsen & Toubro (L&T) on Tuesday said its construction arm has bagged a large order for its buildings and factories business from the Odisha government to construct clinical blocks and allied infrastructure for a hospital in Cuttack. The duration of the engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) project is 30 months, the company said in a statement. The project involves construction of four clinical blocks comprising composite structural systems and other ancillary buildings. The facility will cover specialty departments such as neurology, nephrology, endocrinology, gastroenterology, hematology, hepatology, cardiology, surgical blocks, casualty, trauma and general surgery with a total of 2,058 beds. The scope of work includes design and execution of architecture and structurecomposite system among others.

JMC Projects bags new orders worth Rs 1,795 crore

JMC Projects has secured two orders worth Rs 1,795 crore, including water supply projects worth Rs 1,085 crore. Apart from the water supply projects, the company has bagged an order for Buildings & Factories (B&F) projects worth Rs 710 crore in the country, it said in a statement. JMC Projects (India) Ltd, a subsidiary of Kalpataru Power Transmission Ltd, is a leading civil construction and infrastructure EPC (Engineering Procurement and Construction) company. "We are enthused with the new order wins in our Water and B&F business. These new orders will help us to further consolidate our position in high growth businesses. "Amidst a challenging environment, these new orders also support us to diversifying our clientele, generate additional business from existing marquee clients," CEO & Managing Director of JMC Projects S K Tripathi said. The company's order inflows for the current financial year has crossed Rs 9,750 crore, he added.
