As the minimum temperature in Delhi dropped to 10 degrees Celsius, the season's lowest so far, the IMD said it will declare a cold wave in the city if the situation persists for another day
The temperature will remain around 18-19 degrees for 3-4 days, IMD said
The maximum temperature in the national capital will hover around 16 degrees Celsius.
The temperature recorded by the Safdurjung laboratory at 2:30 pm was 9.4 degrees Celsius
Dense fog was also witnessed near Kalindi Kunj, Mayur Vihar Phase-1, RK Puram, Delhi cantonment area and other places of the national capital.
Cold wave conditions are likely to abate from these regions from December 31 onwards, the IMD said
"The mean maximum temperature for December was less than 20 degrees Celsius only in 1919, 1929, 1961 and 1997," an official of the India Meteorological Department said
Moderate snowfall began in most parts of Kashmir Friday afternoon and is expected to continue till Saturday
The minimum temperature plunged to settle at 9.1 degrees celsius
The cold wave conditions in many places across North India have plummeted below 5 degrees centigrade
