India's digital public infra story worth showcasing: Cisco India President

India's transformative digital public infrastructure is a "story worth showcasing" and the interest it has generated among developing and developed nations presents a huge opportunity for the Indian tech industry, according to Cisco India and SAARC President Daisy Chittilapilly. Chittilapilly noted that India's digital public infrastructure offered a unique population-scale, low cost, accessible model, and is generating "tremendous amount of interest" from other nations. She cited the success of digital identity Aadhaar and India's Unified Payments Interface (UPI), the real-time payment system where transaction volumes are "mind blowing". "One of the topics at the G20 Presidency is showcasing digital public infrastructure that India has built over the last many years... Aadhaar is the largest national identity project in the world... look at the UPI numbers, they are mind blowing. There is nothing like UPI anywhere in the world," she told PTI in a recent interview. 24% of companies surveyed in India ready to defend cybersecurity threats

Just 24 per cent of organisations surveyed in India have the 'mature' level of readiness needed to be resilient against the modern cybersecurity risks, according to a new Cisco study released on Tuesday. Cisco, in a separate announcement, said it aims to train 500,000 cybersecurity professionals over 3 years across India. Cisco's first-ever Cybersecurity Readiness Index highlighted where businesses are doing well and where cybersecurity readiness gaps will widen if global business and security leaders don't take action. Underlining that readiness is critical, the Cisco study revealed that 90 per cent respondents said they expect a cybersecurity incident to disrupt their business in the next 12 to 24 months. India scored high in the global chart in terms of maturity (24 per cent), performing above the global average of 15 per cent on cybersecurity readiness. About 38 per cent of companies in India fall into the beginner or formative stages. Conducted by an independent third-party,

India to be among top 5 markets for Cisco globally by 2025: Chittilapilly

Telecom gear maker Cisco is bullish about India's business prospects where rapid digitisation across sectors and 5G play are fuelling robust growth, a top executive said on Monday, adding India is well on its way to be counted among top five markets for the company globally by 2025. On the new regulations in offing in India's telecom and IT sectors, Daisy Chittilapilly, President, Cisco India and SAARC, told PTI that guardrails are important and "needed" as connectivity improves, digital touches lives of more and more people, and new areas such as AI emerge. The guardrails are in fact good for the industry and Cisco is supportive of any regulation and law that drives towards establishing such guardrails, she said, lauding the extensive industry-wide consultations being undertaken by the government, as new rules are drafted in tech and telecom sectors. The company believes that the Indian market will be resilient for the next decade in terms of growth. Chittilapilly said India has b
