Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh has appealed to the Centre to repeal the amended Citizenship Act while urging the Union Home Minister and the Delhi Chief Minister to do all it takes to bring the situation under control. Protestors had torched four public buses and two police vehicles as they clashed with police in New Friends' Colony near Jamia Millia Islamia in Delhi during a demonstration against the amended Citizenship Act on Sunday, leaving nearly 60 people including students, cops and firefighters injured. 'Pakistan drones dropping arms in Punjab': CM Amarinder seeks Centre's help

Two days after a Punjab Police probe revealed use of drones to deliver weapons from across the border, Chief Minister Amarinder Singh on Tuesday said this has added a "new and serious dimension on Pakistan's sinister designs" after abrogation of special status to Jammu and Kashmir. He urged Union Home Minister Amit Shah to handle the "drone problem" at the earliest. The Punjab Police on Sunday had claimed to have busted a terror module of the Khalistan Zindabad Force (KZF), backed by a group based in Pakistan and Germany. It said the terror group was conspiring to unleash a series of strikes in Punjab and adjoining states. Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh will not attend Prime Minister Narendra Modi's swearing-in ceremony in New Delhi, the Chief Minister's media advisor Raveen Thukral informed.Prime Minister Narendra Modi's swearing-in ceremony is scheduled to be held today evening.Earlier, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel too had opted out of the oath-taking ceremony citing different reasons.West Bengal Chief Minister had earlier planned to attend the ceremony.
