1 killed, 14 injured after twin blasts near bus stop shake Jerusalem

An explosion went off on Wednesday near a bus stop on the edge of Jerusalem in what police said was a suspected Palestinian attack, and hospitals reported that at least 12 people were injured, two of them critically. The explosion went off near a bus stop along a highway leading out of the city that is usually packed with commuters. Yosef Haim Gabay, a medic who was at the scene when the blast occurred, told Army Radio that there is damage everywhere here" and that some of the wounded were bleeding heavily. Jerusalem hospitals said they received 12 people wounded in the incident, among them two critically and two seriously. While the cause was still being determined, the incident came as Israeli-Palestinian tensions are high, following months of Israeli raids in the occupied West Bank prompted by a spate of deadly attacks against Israelis that killed 19 people. Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said an explosion on a major pedestrian thoroughfare in in Istanbul was caused by a bomb attack." Six people have died. Speaking before his departure to the G-20 summit in Indonesia on Sunday, Erdogan said the explosion was a treacherous attack and its perpetrators would be punished. Four people died at the scene and two in the hospital, Erdogan said. Another 53 were wounded, according to information he received from the Istanbul governor.

Two masons injured in crude bomb blast in Bengal's North 24 Parganas

Two masons were injured in a crude bomb explosion at an under-construction building in West Bengal's North 24 Parganas district on Sunday, police said. The incident took place when the masons were working at the site in Deganga area, and they received minor injuries. Three live bombs were also recovered from the spot and were defused, a police officer said. Locals claimed that the under-construction building belongs to a TMC panchayat member. The owners of the house are being questioned and further investigation is underway, he added.

Al-Shabab explosive attack kills 20, wounds 36 in Somalia's Beledweyne

Islamic extremist fighters on Monday targeted the local Somali government headquarters in the Hiran region, leaving 20 people dead and 36 wounded in a town at the center of a recent mobilization against the extremists, officials and witnesses said. The Somalia-based al-Shabab claimed responsibility for the attack in Beledweyne, a town more than 300 kilometers (186 miles) north of Somalia's capital, Mogadishu. Somalia's government earlier Monday announced that it and international partners had killed a top al-Shabab leader, Abdullahi Nadir, over the weekend. Death toll in Pakistan's Swat bombing on peace committee members rises to 8

The death toll in the blast claimed by the Pakistani Taliban in the country's restive Khyber Pakhtunkhwa district has climbed to eight as police on Wednesday recovered three more bodies from the site where a member of the local peace committee along with four others was killed, officials said. The roadside bomb attack on Tuesday targeted the vehicle of the peace committee member Idrees Khan, an ex-Village Defence Council (Aman Committee) Chairman of Kabal Tehsil, in Swat district of the province, a police official said. At least five people, including a peace committee member and two police officials, were killed in a blast in Pakistan's restive Khyber Pakhtunkhwa district, officials said on Tuesday. Security officials said a roadside bomb attack targeted the vehicle of the peace committee member, Idrees Khan, who was an ex-Village Defence Council (Aman Committee) Chairman of Kabal Tehsil, in Swat district. The blast, which occurred in Bara Bandai area, resulted in the death of Khan, his security guards and two police officers, they said. One year after Jalalabad bomb blast, accused arrested from Bikaner

An accused wanted in the bomb blast case in Punjab's Jalalabad last year was arrested from Bikaner district of Rajasthan, officials said on Sunday. Gurcharan Singh alia Channa was arrested during a joint operation carried out by the slueths belonging to the Punjab and Rajasthan police on Friday. A bomb had exploded in Jalalabad town of Fazilka district in September last year, leaving one person dead. Police sources said Gurcharan had been working as a labourer in Bikaner for the last few months. Gurcharan carried a cash reward of Rs 2 lakh which had been announced by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) probing this case. The NIA had earlier this year filed a charge sheet against six Khalistani terrorists, including two Pakistanis, for their alleged involvement in the case.
