IPFT MLA Mevar Kumar Jamatia on Tuesday said he has resigned as a member of the Tripura assembly. BJP MLA Niladri Sekhar Dana appeared before the West Bengal CID on Tuesday morning for questioning in the alleged recruitment irregularities at AIIMS-Kalyani, a senior officer said. Dana, the MLA of Bankura, reached the CID office in Bhabani Bhaban in south Kolkata around 11 am, he said. The CID earlier questioned the BJP leader's daughter Maitri Dana, who was recruited at AIIMS-Kalyani. It is alleged that he used his influence for his daughter's recruitment at the hospital in Nadia district. The CBI has taken over the probe into the mysterious death of Haryana BJP leader Sonali Phogat in Goa last month, officials said Thursday. The central probe agency re-registered the FIR of Goa Police on a reference from the Ministry of Home Affairs which was routed to it through the Department of Personnel and Training, they said. Teams of the CBI along with CFSL experts will reach Goa to collect documents and interact with the local police officials and doctors who had examined the former TV anchor after she was brought to the hospital. The sources said viscera samples will give a definitive clue about the causes of Phogat's death. With an eye on the 2024 elections, BJP chief JP Nadda and senior leader Amit Shah will hold a brainstorming session Tuesday with key party leaders to draw a roadmap for winning the 144 Lok Sabha seats it missed by narrow margins in the previous election, sources said. These seats were divided into clusters and one Union minister each was appointed as their in-charge.
